NC Department of Labor
Youth Employment Certificate SYSTEM
Welcome
Tyler Nelson,
Thank you for initiating the process to obtain a Youth Employment Certificate through the NC Department of Labor. The North Carolina Department of Labor - Wage and Hour Bureau has registered your name under Youth Employment Identification Number (YEID) 842519 (this number does not give you permission to work).
In order to continue the youth employment certificate process, the YEID number must be provided to the employer.
Please carefully read the process below in order to complete the Youth Employment Certificate.
Additional Steps to obtaining Youth Employment
Certificate
1. Provide the YEID number to the employer.
Once you have received an offer of employment,
please provide your Youth Employment
Identification Number (YEID) noted above, to your
prospective employer.
The employer must enter the YEID that you
provide on the NC Department of Labor website.
The employer enters the YEID number, business
information and electronically signs the youth
employment certificate.
2. Please review the next steps after the employer signs the certificate.
You will receive an email from the N.C.
Department of Labor.
Once you receive the email, please verify your
parents email address to ensure accuracy and to
avoid further delay in the process. Your
parent’s email address cannot be the same
as your email address.
Click on the link in the email to electronically sign your certificate and provide your parent/guardian
email address. Click submit.
Your parent/guardian will receive an email, from
the N.C. Department of Labor, with a link to
electronically sign your certificate.
3. Once the certificate is signed by your parent/guardian, the employer will receive an email with a link to your completed youth employment certificate.
Please be advised that all of the above steps, in the above order, must be completed before the certificate will be issued. All certificates must be signed by the youth, the parent and the employer in order to be valid. Please allow up to 12 hours to receive your YEID as noted above, via email.
Please be reminded that this is only the initial step to obtain the certificate. No further action will occur until you provide the employer with your Youth Employment Identification Number as noted above.
