REHAB TECHICIAN/PEDATRIC TECHICIAN MEDSTAR HEALTH NATIONAL REHABILITATION HOSPITAL WASHINGTON DC OCTOBER 2022- PRESENT

·Works with and assists physicians and nurses and provides technical support for patient care.

·Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene, including bathing, mouth care, dressing, skin care, positioning, feeding, ambulation, toileting, and range of motion activities. Assists with patient mobilization and rehabilitation, use of crutches and walkers, and transfer/transport of patients in wheelchairs and stretchers.

·Collects specimens; performs venipuncture/phlebotomy; obtains EKGs; applies electrodes and initiates physiologic monitoring equipment; and inserts intravenous (IV) catheters, changes of IV sites and dressings, and routine inspection of IV sites.

·Accurately takes and records patient’s vital signs, height and weight, pulse oximetry, point of care and waived testing (i.e., finger sticks for glucose monitoring/Accucheck, urine dipstick, hemoccult) and other pertinent information in the patient’s health record.

·Maintains the cleanliness and safety of patient environment by distributing and changing linen/towels, removing used meal trays, checking bed siderails and safety restraints, etc. Assists with environmental services support such as linen management, trash removal and cleaning patient rooms.

·Assists with the transport of patients to other departments.

EMERGENCY ROOM TECHNICIAN PRINCE GEORGES HOSPITAL TRAUMA CENTER MAY 2006 – OCTOBER 2022

·Works with and assists physicians and nurses and provides technical support for patient care.

·Reports on the condition of the patient to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members.

·Cleans and stocks carts, rooms, and changes linen, as required.

·Assists with the transport of patients to other departments.

·Assists with resuscitation / CPR and emergency airway procedures.

·Assists with obtaining and documentation of vital signs and placement of oxygen saturation, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems.

·Assists in obtaining 12-lead EKGs, discontinuation of peripheral IV and heparin/saline locks, maintenance

· and care of specimens for laboratory analysis.

·Assist with wound care, insertion of Foley catheters, and nasogastric tubes. Decontaminates all equipment, instruments, and supplies.

·Assists with positioning patients, application of orthopedic splints and dressings.

·Establishes a rapport with the patient and family to learn what is the most important to them in their hospital experience and their preferences. Communicates findings to the appropriate healthcare team members.

· Responds to and investigates complaints and concerns and communicates identified issues to appropriate staff. Works with individuals or departments to limit or resolve delays in service and communicates delays to patients and families.

·Acts as an intermediary to Hospital Administration on behalf of patients and their families.

·Interprets philosophy, policies, procedures, and services to patients and their families as well as visitors.

·Makes follow up phone calls to discharged patients and solicit feedback about their hospital experience and forward any clinical questions to the appropriate manager.

· Uses findings from analysis of trends in complaints to mentor individuals and departments to develop appropriate service action plans.
