I am a passionate Development Practitioner with 33 years of working experience divided between Education (13 years) and development work (20 years). My development work experience has accrued over a wide range of cultural groups both in Zimbabwe (Matebeleland South, Manicaland and Masvingo Provinces) and Mozambique (Gaza and Nampula Provinces). My greatest passion lies in facilitating transformation in human lives and seeing them improve for the better using community based/participatory approaches.

I have gained valuable experience in the use of the following community based/participatory approaches: Participatory Market Systems Development ;Community Level Participatory Planning (Community Based Planning);Participatory Extension Approaches ;Gender Action Learning Systems; Internal Savings and Lending ; Participatory Technology Development and Training for transformation. I also have in-depth understanding of climate change impact on livelihoods and disaster risk reduction from hands on initiatives. I piloted a number of technologies including Greenhouse technologies, standard fish farming

(using both fish tanks and cages), soil and water conservation as well as promotion of local seed banks of open pollinated drought tolerant seeds.

I gained valuable knowledge and insights through participating in a number of capacity building workshops including Climate change mainstreaming facilitated by the University of Reading in collaboration with Practical Action and Ministry of Agriculture (Masvingo, Zimbabwe), Gender Mainstreaming facilitated by FAO (Nyanga), Participatory Extension Approaches by Practical Action and AGRITEX (Masvingo, Zimbabwe), Training for Transformation by Practical Action (Masvingo, Zimbabwe), Advocacy Training facilitated by Practical Action (in Tanzania) and a number of others . Working in different environments has helped me to develop strategic and systems thinking in developing approaches for sustainable development. I have also carried out consultancy assignments for more than 5 local and international development organisations. I have passion in Community Level Participatory Planning/Community Visioning, for proposal development, Training/Facilitation, public speaking and advocacy. My greatest desire is to see a basically subsistence community developing into a commercial one with several income streams and livelihoods options.
