Job duties include, but are not limited to the following: Job responsibilities:

• Providing patient centered care/services

• Assist nursing staff under supervision of RN with various patient care duties and common nursing functions.

• Giving and receiving bed side shift reports at the beginning and end of every shift, and properly communicating patient information/needs to other PCT members during bed side shift report.

• Prepare patient room for new patient arrival.

• Answer/respond to patient call lights in a timely fashion.

• Assist patients with ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living), such as toileting, hygiene, showering, eating, dressing, etc., as needed.

• Weighing patients as needed.

• Bringing patients needed items such as snacks, water, patient menu, and needed items for showering, etc.

• Assist with turning and repositioning patients, and properly place bed pans and urinals to meet patient’s needs when necessary.

• Obtain and record patient vital signs information as well as patient urinal input and output.

• Change patient bed linens and keep room tidy, clean and/or sanitize needed areas/equipment in patient room, and assist patient with ambulation when needed, and document.

• Administering foley/catheter care and cleaning patients with chlorhexidine (CHG), wipes when necessary, and document.

• Documenting patient hygiene, shower method and what level of assistance was needed.

• Monitoring blood glucose with the use of glucometer test strips and performing Glu Lock test on glucose equipment when prompted to do so.

• Retrieve and properly place telemetry box on patients when necessary.

• Properly setting up/placing purewick on patients as needed, including canister, tubing, and setting appropriate vacuum setting.

• Transporting patient samples/specimens to lab when needed.

• Notify RN or charge nurse in a timely manner of any abnormal vitals, blood glucose readings, patient falls, and change, if any, in patient behaviors, etc.

• Transport patient upon discharge or transfer patient to another hospital unit, procedure or scan when needed.

• Perform/assist in patient IV removal upon discharge when instructed to do so.

• Scan items taken from POU (Point of Use), rooms that is needed in/for patient care.

• Help keep unit clean.

• Help with training of new patient care technicians.

• Act as sitter when needed, for patients who are suicidal or an elopement risk, and apply proper restraints only when instructed to do so by charge nurse, director, or manager.

• Respond and assist to any/all code blue and staff assist alerts on unit. Also respond to alerts on other units, only if instructed to do so by your superior staff management.

• Notify proper personnel of any malfunctioning equipment or thermostat controls, etc.

• Putting in schedule, PTO, and special schedule requests in a timely fashion to management.

• Attend all mandatory training/staff meetings and complete all necessary online training courses, as well as keeping all necessary certifications up to date.

• Answering all calls & directing calls to appropriate staff

• Admitting & discharging patients as well as assigning all staff electronically to their daily assignments.

• Printing assignments, all necessary copying, faxing materials.
