At MSCS I work as a direct 1:1 caregiver for adults with disabilities such as autism or Down syndrome and many others. As a 1:1 provider my primary duties are to insure the safety of my assigned individual as well as interact with them and provide mental health support and care. My time with MSCS has provided me with education about disabilities and how to appropriately address individuals who are unable to take care of themselves. My typical day consists of welcoming my individual into the facility for the day, helping them put away their personal items, then going over the planned activities for the day and working with them to find activities that work best for them. A huge part of my position is encouraging my members to get out into the community and helping them experience new and exciting things.
