Managed the FP&A departments for all 13 hospitals ($4B annual spend) and leading eight large divisions (400+ FTEs): Security, Clinical Engineering, Supply Chain, Environmental Services, Food Services, Real Estate, Construction Services, and Facility Management. Prepared divisional/corporate budgets, forecasts, operating plans, and managed large capital projects. Memorial Hermann Hospital System is a Texas not-for profit company with 13 existing hospitals and three new hospitals under construction.

Managed a team of 9 direct reports that managed 11 departments and led 400+ employees.

Responsible for the annual budget process, utilizing input from field leadership (hospital CFOs) and objectives from the hospital CEOs and Board of Directors. Responsible for weekly/monthly variance and reforecasting analysis and reporting.

Participated in and prepared financial analysis and modeling for all location payer mix/contracts, product design/offerings, and all other large capital expenditures/investments.

Consolidated all financial information for each location for monthly Board of Director presentations/updates.

Operated the FP&A and M&A department that prepared divisional/corporate budgets, forecasts, operating plans, managed capital projects, and conducted all M&A activities. Successfully negotiated and integrated numerous acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, contracts, and corporate restructurings for the domestic and international payment network expansion of Western Union, TeleCheck, Star Debit Network, Tasq POS, Merchant Services, and other company subsidiaries.

Assisted in the acquisition of Concord EFS for $7B. As a requirement of DOJ subsequently sold NYSE ATM network to Metavante for $610M. Assisted in the integration post-acquisition.

Completed the $124M+ sale and restructuring of a subsidiary company with Bank of America, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase, and Branch Banking & Trust company. Consolidated the risk and fraud prevention systems of the banks with First Data, locking in five-year terms for the bank payment processing contracts.

Realized $2M in tax savings through negotiating the final structure of the new company.

Created and managed the second largest Western Union joint venture/revenue sharing agreement with Grace Kennedy. Greatly improved customer service and solidified their money transfer corridor throughout the Caribbean.

Managed the Joint Venture between TeleCheck/TASQ and Chase Merchant Services for the resale of POS equipment to the Chase merchant customer base. Realized $2M in additional annual revenue in year one.

Acquired the technology, including all associated intellectual property rights to numerous online and point-of-sale risk and fraud technologies for STAR Debit Network, TeleCheck, Western Union, and other subsidiaries. This included the “digital finger print” technology licensed to numerous online companies and debit networks, saving millions in internet fraud per year.

Acquired the assets of a Canadian payment network for $31M, which provided multi-country connectivity between existing networks and Canadian banks. This allowed First Data to discontinue the payment of third-party processing payments for Canadian transactions, resulting in an immediate $11M annual savings.

Consolidated the check acceptance market for the TeleCheck subsidiary by successfully negotiating the acquisition of 3 of the top 5 competitors. Acquired the assets of the third largest company in the market, International Check Services, in a bankruptcy filing for ~ 40% discount on asset valuation, saving TeleCheck over $15M in purchase price. In addition, $7M in synergies were realized after completion by reducing operating expenses from consolidating operations and utilizing best practices.

Acquired the assets of a collection company with $25M in annual revenue and a superior collection system for large national accounts. Negotiated a purchase price $9M less than the offering price and improved the reporting capabilities of the current collection system as requested by Walmart and Home Depot, which resulted in contract renewals with both customers. Managed the integration post-acquisition.

Acquired the majority ownership in the assets of a company in Brazil to support the Latin America expansion strategy for the Western Union and TeleCheck subsidiaries. Increased the revenue in the region by $5M annually. Managed the integration post-acquisition.

Negotiated and managed a favorable joint venture and minority ownership in the assets of a Canadian point of sale equipment company. Shortened the market penetration time frame and achieved additional annual revenue of $3M.

Divested the assets of two discontinued business units for $9M, eliminating non-profitable product lines, realizing a onetime tax benefit and an operating expense savings of $4M per year.

Managed the development of divisional budgets, forecasts, modeling tools, and provided the financial expertise/analysis for recommending financial actions in relation to organizational goals. Created customized financial modeling tools to account for various fraud risks associated with online payment transactions.

Managed a Joint Venture with Orlandi Valuta for call center services for the Western Union and the TeleCheck subsidiaries of First Data. Trained their employees to handle high consumer call volume in their call centers in Mexico. The JV resulted in the acquisition of the company.

Participated in a $5M one-year corporate strategy project, evaluating new products and potential markets. Analyzed the possibility of entering the securities processing market via acquisition of Bear Sterns, Prudential, Goldman Sachs, Charles Schwab, and Merrill Lynch’s processing divisions.

Assisted in acquiring and integrating the last 2 remaining TeleCheck franchises for combined purchase price of $37M. Resulting in an immediate savings of $7M in franchise fees and opening up the Michigan and California markets to new product offerings.

Assisted in the acquisition/integration of a minority interest in the assets of the 3rd largest Western Union franchise in Kingston, Jamaica, strengthening the business throughout the Caribbean.
