Personal Statement:

I am a retired Navy Physician Assistant with over 30 years in the medical field and 24 years of clinical PA experience specifically in Primary care, Urgent care, Sports Medicine, and Orthopedics. My current job is in a fast-paced Orthopedic hand team and before that in an Orthopedic Urgent Care clinic in Hawaii. Recently moved to northern virginia this year after being overseas for 4 years with my military husband and excited to find a wonderful practice to join. Although my experience has been primarily primary care and Orthopedics, I’m very open to learning different subspecialties. I appreciate your time and consideration in reviewing my curriculum vitae. I’ve moved a lot since retiring from the Navy due to my husband still being on active duty with 2-year rotations, but DC is his last duty station before retiring, so we will be here long term. My experience in the Navy and Orthopedics gained me a lot of experience in procedures such as treating fractures, independent X-ray interpretations and self-readings, suturing, and hundreds of injections of joints, soft tissues, carpal tunnels, and trigger fingers, just to name a few. Frequent injections were performed each shift with corticosteroids or with viscosupplementation such as synvisc or orthovisc. I have a lot of experience, energetic, and eager to learn. I would be excited for an opportunity to hone in my skills in any subspecialty. I offer a diverse set of medical skills and love teaching students and staff. I have extensive military experience with 3 combat tours and have spent my whole career in a team environment. I’m very familiar with EMR’s and dictation software using mobile devices. In addition to my clinical skills, I have strong managerial skills as a retired Naval Officer including serving 5 years in a department head position of Sports medicine and Orthopedic clinics, supervising personnel and clinic management. I would be very interested in the opportunity to be considered for your Physician Assistant position and thank you for your consideration.
