Expert trainer, former Operating Room Director and Program Director for the Navy’s Perioperative and Surgical Technicians Program (West Coast). Navy Master Trainer certified.

Proactive trainer provides one on one training and trouble shooting of sterile processing and RME (Reusable Medical Equipment) to staff across VA medical system in San Diego. Sought out expert within the VA with 28 years of operating room and sterile processing experience. Proactively develops and implements policies and procedures across the organization related to sterile processing and RME. Coordinates individual vendor activities, assures quality assurance monitoring and establishment of optimal and cost effect work flows. - Administratively accountable to the Chief, Nurse Operations. The facility Safe Patient Handling and Incident Prevention (SPH/IP) Coordinator implements and evaluates the Medical Center's Safe Patient Handling program. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary personnel, network SPH experts, VA Safety Center, and manufacturers of advanced patient lifting equipment to achieve the goals of an integrated program. Develops and coordinates facility Unit Peer Leader Program and provides oversight of equipment selection and purchases to meet current and future needs for safe patient handling. Assures compliance with performance measures, SPH training, and promotes evidence-based practice for SPH in all clinical settings. The Incident Prevention role includes varied activities to include fall prevention, restraint documentation issues.
