(iv) INFORMATION ANALYSIS AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE OFFICER (Juba, SOUTH SUDAN – 2/11-6/11). Member of UN Regional Operations Center (ROC) in Juba. Activities included policy conceptualization and recommendations; information management /collection-dissemination /reporting/advocacy; avoiding violence between tribes, by armed groups, mercenaries and regular troops against women and children. Climate and Environmental Inducement to Violence. Helped to establish UN information system for research and policy formulation in South Sudan. RESIDENT PROJECT OFFICER; UNICEF SOMALIA and UN Focal Point/Security Warden: (6/97 - 8/99) Supervise, manage and guide 25 regular staff (4 international and 21 national) and average of 300 contracted personnel in 5 field offices under extremely dangerous conditions in central Somalia on a child-youth-women focused program. Research on Violence Prevention-Intervention with MHPSS programming; Policy formulation and stakeholder coordination; integrated community development including Health, Education, WASH, environment and youth programs with women’s projects. Adult Education for Disaster & EWS and response. Expanded programmatic area and built information systems and advocated community-PSEA and child-women protection in emergency projects and activities expanding operational environment from 13 to 63 districts in south and central Somalia. Activities and responsibilities included: UN focal point for the zone; manager of IP refuges/centers; representation; UN Security Warden; head of operations, anti-FGM and PSS trauma healing focal point. Trained 20 women to meet groups to stop FGM, perform psycho-social trauma healing and training in human/women/child rights. Increased gender training/education and women’s programs. EMERGENCY PROGRAM/OPERATIONS CONSULTANT: UNICEF/UNHCR; RUSSIA: (4/95 -3/97) UNICEF Team leader in Chechnya operation; responsible for Child/Women Protection; planning/implementing/ monitoring protection programs for children, women and older women.
