Resume:

Louis F. Benedict Nov. **, ****

*** ********* **.,

Pearl City, 96782

Ph. 808-***-****

To Whom it may concern,

INTRODUCTION:

Aloha, my name is Louis Frank Benedict, and I am applying for a Security position within your organization.

In 2020 I was diagnosed with Parkinson's. My doctors advised me to stop working for a while so they could get my medication adjusted. Oct. 31, 2021, the Doctors told me that the medication was working and encouraged me to go back to work.

The only thing that Parkinson’s has done is to impair my walking. I can walk, however slowly. When I must walk far or stand or for more than 5 minutes, I use a cane for stability and my mobility scooter. I can do almost anything Opps I forgot, no more motorcycle racing and riding can’t do that anymore.

I know you are thinking, how can an eighty-year-old retired electrical worker with Parkinson’s be any good for our organization? Well, I am not your average eighty-year-old.

(An eighty-year-old with Parkinson’s can do anything a younger, or someone that is not

Handi-capped, can do).

If you are still reading this cover letter, then perhaps I have a chance to work for your organization, or at least an in-person interview. They say, "seeing is believing."

WORK HISTORY:

Now for the good news, I can speak, hear, see, read, and write. I can kneel, & bend over I am able to perform CPR, apply an AED, and I have security experience.

1960 – 1966:

While serving in the Marines and, stationed in Okinawa and, the Philippines. I would be temporarily be assigned to the Base Military Police as a Radio Dispatcher and would serve as the second person in a patrol vehicle, as needed. Received military police training, and first aid training. Served 4 years in the Marines active duty and 2 years in the reserve.

1965 – 1998:

I retired from Hawaiian Electric as Superintendent of the Live Line Transmission (Construction and Maintenance) Division. Additional responsibility assigned was to develop and implement a formal in-house Apprentice Training Program.

Ever since my retirement date (1/2/1998) I have continually worked until when I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. My post-retirement goal was to work in as many trades as possible, to learn new skills, and meet new people.

2008 – 2012:

I worked for the Waikiki Hyatt Hotel and Resort as a Security Officer. Performed CCTV camera monitoring and, security dispatcher responsibilities

Other responsibilities were to conduct interior patrols, hotel common areas, retail shops, restaurants, banquet rooms, parking structure etc. Also patrolled hotel property perimeter. Prepared detailed reports as needed. Worked with Honolulu Police to complete trespass, theft, personal injury and, vehicle accident reports.

Reluctantly, I left the Hyatt to help a good friend start an electrical business. RJ’s Electrical LLC. Once the electrical co was established, and employees were trained I resigned from RJ’s and reapplied to the Hyatt. I was accepted back at the Hyatt as a Security Officer.

Around the year 2012 I again RELUCTANTLY left the Hyatt for a position I just could not turn down with TLH Project Management Co. (Resigned from TLH when the I came down with Parkinson’s).

2022 – 2023:

I Worked for K T Protection Services in late 2022. Worked at the ALA Moana Shopping providing security for Parada’s Men store, while store renovations were being made. (Over-night shift)

I asked my supervisor if there were any day shifts available. He said there will be one opening up soon at the Salt Lake Shopping Center. The site had a golf cart available. I accepted the job.

I am currently working at the Waipio Business Center, for Securitas as a Security Officer. I have been using my mobility scooter to do the patrols. There are 110 units and an area of approximately little more than a football field.

I applied at Securitas with the understanding they would provide a golf cart to do patrols. Told the hiring supervisor that would be the only way I could do the work effectively.

He asked if in the meantime if I could use my mobility scooter, Worked there for over two months…. no golf cart. I gave my two weeks’ notice. (The Supervisor there wanted me to stay), and perhaps I would have if it was a day shift post. I was working the swing-shift at the time.

I am looking for a job to help any organization the best way I can. To help protect their employees, customers, and property. I am not interested in benefits (retirement, or health insurance), and will waive them if necessary.

I prefer day shift hours. However, would work on a swing shift temporarily if required. I would be available to work any day of the week including holidays.

If you require further information, please feel free to contact me any time.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Louis F. Benedict
