The overall objective:
To equip both staff and farmers throughout the District with knowledge and skills in all aspects of crops Production.
Duties:
Create and maintain database on crop production in the District.
Design, organise and contact staff training to satisfy identified training needs.
Provide input for courses organized by other specialists, branches and other institutions.
Assist farmers in problem solving and disseminate new and appropriate technologies
Produce quarterly, fortnightly, monthly and annual reports and any other reports as required by the provincial and livestock production officer.
Establish and monitor demonstrations and trials on technologies in crop production.
Conduct workshops and group discussions with staff and lead farmers.
Compile and analyse information of crop production trends in the province.
Produce and update enterprise budgets.
Design and carryout surveys to evaluate the crop situation in the District and assess the adoption of crop technologies.
Carrying out the duties of Livestock specialist and DAEO in their absence.
Establish and maintaining good working relationship with staff and other stakeholders.
