KEAN UNIVERSITY,Union N.J. and Wenzhou, China, 9/2016 to 6/2019: Acting Global HR Director III (Remote and On-Site)
Responsible for administering Faculty affairs for more than 110 Faculty members at this joint venture university located in Wenzhou China and founded by the current President of China, Xi Jinping. The university is a joint venture between the city of Wenzhou China and Kean University of New Jersey and currently has more than 4,000 undergrad students enrolled. The university is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Accreditation.
Accomplishments :
•Developed, implemented and disclosed policies and procedures designed to comply with federal and state legislation as well as with Chinese legislation on all aspects of ADA, ADEA, Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, FLSA, FMLA, Immigration, OSHA, Title IX requirements. Created and publicized avenues for employees to report Title IX-related complaints; designed and led investigation and resolution processes for same; ensured compliance with mandated employee training required by Title IX, VAWA, Clery and other related legislation.
•Recruited and hired more than one hundred forty teaching staff at the Lecturer and Professorial levels.
•Designing and implementing a 10 member HR organization to service the HR needs of the newly established organization
•Training of the newly established HR organization so that all aspects of U.S. and Chinese HR legal requirements are observed.

HR& Housing AUB & AUB Medical Center
Provided professional Human Resources counsel and guidance to a not-for-profit medical and educational institution considered to be the best in the Middle East. Workforce consists of over 400 physicians, 700 faculty and 4,500 person workforce supporting a 480 bed teaching hospital and 10,400 student campus. Budgetary responsibility (including payroll) of $200 million and stewardship of $100 million plus in retirement funds. Lead a group of 30 HR professionals in meeting the HR needs of the overall academic and non-academic workforce at the AUB Medical Center and university.The university and Medical Center were located in Beirut Lebanon and the headquarters office in New York City so my responsibilities were both remote and on-site.
Accomplishments include:
•Reduced by 10% (average $1.6 million) the annual operating cost of the in-house medical plan (18,000 employee +family dependents) through cost shifting to plan participants.
•Revised and implemented an updated Medical Practice Plan for the 400 MD’s at AUB Medical Center thereby saving $800K annually.
•Re-engineered the HR functions at AUB and restructured AUB senior management structure and levels reporting to the President from 3 to 6 positions. Presided over the HR aspects (including recruiting of senior management talent) of a change-out of the entire senior management administration (15 incumbents over a 5 year period) including the President, Provost, entire Board of Deans, VP Medical Center and various senior Directors as well as a major reorganization of the 400 bed AUB Teaching Hospital.
•Developed and installed a state-of-the art pay-for-competency system for the AUB Medical Center 700+nursing and Lab Test employees.
•Recruited and hired more than four hundred ninety teaching staff at the Lecturer and Professorial levels.
•Restructuring and retraining of the human resources function into a modern client focused organization delivering world-class HR services to the academic and non-academic community at no additional cost and with a 30% improvement in the annual employee satisfaction survey.
•Led the transformation of the university’s HR office from a tactical, transactional office to a strategic partner for campus community members.
•Dramatically increased the competency levels (75%+) of the human resources organization through a one year HR certification program.
