2007 - September 2016 Wellstat Diagnostics Gaithersburg, MD

A private company dedicated to the development, manufacturing, sale and distribution of small point of care diagnostic systems.

In charge of Firmware, Software and Electrical hardware development for feasibility as well as the development phases. Co-inventor of the cartridge- based Point of Care system utilizing electrochemiluminescence (ECL) technology that can perform a wide variety of immunodiagnostic tests targeting the clinical diagnostics market. Realized and participated in a full development cycle from initial concept phase through risk assessment, feasibility, planning, design, and development to pre-market FDA submission.

Designed and developed real time embedded firmware for the POC-5LP (based on 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-M3 microprocessor).

Directed all work related to electrical engineering, firmware and software to facilitate the system integration and assay development teams in order to conduct research activities.

Wrote and reviewed project charters, system and software requirements, printed circuit board requirements, project development plans, risk analysis, cost analysis, critical component and assembly level master test plan for production. Guided and conducted design and code reviews.

Designed new software (.net VB, SQL db) for an existing plate based ECL analyzer. Supervised the coding, verified and generated required documentation, and advanced it through qualification, installation and user training to the internal cGLP and CLIA certified Contract Services Organization.

Architected research and development software and hardware based on existing platforms (80251) to support feasibility and development efforts and to allow for effective research to development pathway.

Designed the User Interface for the Production Software for the Point of Care Instrument.

Production Software (C#) developed on Windows Embedded System OS to be then transferred to Windows Embedded Compact OS.

Conducted feasibility studies to design and optimize key components of the system.

Throughout the full development cycle, designed and optimized the sequence of operations for the cartridge-based system in order to achieve sensitivity, accuracy, and precision goals.

Designed and conducted experiments, acquired data and applied statistical analysis to evaluate performance in order to optimize the geometry and assembly of the micro fluidic cartridge.

Guided the design activities, performed task assignment, project management, reviewed design documents, conducted code reviews, and design reviews.

Defined the scope and goals of all prototype stages including testing and evaluation phases. Conducted the verification testing of the prototypes.

Prepared invention disclosures, worked closely with patent attorneys to help write patent applications.

Assisted QA with building a Quality Management System in accordance with 21 CFR 820.30, by establishing the proper design control SOPs.

Conducted analysis and documented methods for proposing the system for nucleic acid testing.
