Industrial Experience

You’re In!, Allentown, PA, USA Product Design Engineer Jan’15 – Apr’15

Designed and performed Finite Element Analysis on a non-spill urinal, from scratch, with a manufacturing cost of $1.40 per unit.

Design based on ease of manufacturability using die casting technique.

Documented technical specifications and managed document control process

Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India Project Research Assistant Jun’13 – Jun’14

Designed airborne liquid cooling system with heat flow rate of 5.5 kW, working at 45,000 feet with 4G force.

Performed rating & sizing calculations and mathematical modeling of the Heat Exchanger using C and FORTRAN.

Completed structural modeling and simulations using FloTherm.

Defense R&D Organization, Bangalore, India Mechanical Design Engineer Intern July’12 – Aug’12

Project 1: Modal and Harmonic Analysis of Heat Sink used in Radar System

Analyzed a heat sink for modal and harmonic frequency of up to 4G variation and studied their effect on it using Structural and Modal Analysis.

Modified the design for minimal deformation, resulting in maximum heat output at minimum weight and more stability.

Project 2: Optimizing the Design of chassis Plate

Optimized the design of a chassis plate using modal analysis in ANSYS 14.0, by performing structural analysis.

Reduced its thickness by ~35%, lowering the weight and achieving a higher modal frequency (45%), and calculations done using Matlab.

Educational Projects

Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA Graduate Research Assistant Jan’15 – Present

Project: Investigating a Marine Hydrokinetic Turbine (MHkT) under yaw.

Analyzed the effect of yaw on the performance of MHkT, using Pro-E and ANSYS-CFX (CFD) based computational models, and Matlab.

Studied the velocity profiles, wake generation and propagation models for MHkT under yaw.

Designed and developed an experimental setup for validation the results produced by the computational model.

Vishveshwaraya Technological University, India Research Assistant Feb’13-May’13

Project: Development and characterization of Tungsten copper composite by activated sintering and infiltration

Developed Tungsten copper pseudo alloys using powder metallurgy and infiltration technique.

Determined physical, chemical and mechanical characteristics using various techniques including XRF (X-Ray Florescence)

Optimized the machining parameters using commercially available Tungsten carbide machining tools.
