Resume:

Hello: August **, ****

My resume follows in application for a Director of Human Resources job opening in Los Angeles. I have led HR organizations in high-tech companies for over 15 years and prior to becoming a Generalist / Business Partner, I was a Manager or Specialist in Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Training, and HRIS. My Masters Degree in Human Resources and Organization Development was conferred by the University of San Francisco.

While I’ve sometimes worked for large companies, I’ve often played very hands-on roles:

Most recently at G4S Technology, I was based in their Torrance company with 85 employees, (AMAG). I was the only HR person in the company and provided full HR services, plus managed Health & Safety. AMAG is the North American distributor of electronic security devices manufactured in England.

Following G4S’ acquisition of Touchcom in 2008, I spent one full week each month working in their Burlington, MA headquarters. I became this SaaS start-up’s first and only HR person, helping them grow from 40 to 125 employees. Touchcom provided building automation applications software.

Prior to G4S, I worked for Accruent in Santa Monica, where a HR Coordinator and I provided full HR services for all 150 U.S. based employees. Accruent was a start-up that provided commercial building leasing applications software.

I have been responsible for HR in eight different U.S. states, Brazil, Canada, and England: in some cases there were HR professionals on-site in other locations who reported to me in headquarters and in other cases, I traveled to other sites to provide services myself.

Finally, while I’ve had a couple of HR VP level positions, my salary requirement is significantly less than you might assume and well within the salary range for Human Resources Director level jobs.

Thanks for the consideration,

Bill Skinner
