Responsible for providing strategic business leadership, financial reporting and FP&A. Led numerous initiatives to drive online revenues to exceed $1B. Collaborated and led several transformational cutting edge projects including Omni Channel, International and Customer Acquisition. Areas of direct responsibility included FP&A, Inventory Control, Transformational Project and Business Integration including CAPEX cash flows and ROI analysis.

Partnered and collaborated with a team of 20+ to develop a common shared inventory hub that enabled customer order fulfillment from inventory held by NMG in another location and business channel. Led the financial recording aspect of the project encompassing numerous legacy system integration points supporting daily financial reporting. The results in creating an OMNI Channel environment drove incremental revenues for NMG in excess of $100M in the first year, as well as improving customer service and original price sell thru.

Neiman Marcus International eCommerce

Collaborated with senior management on several solutions leading to a provider offering international shipping, customs clearance documentation and local currency. Once launched, tested onsite local language, as well as numerous marketing initiatives. Business grew extremely fast and was very profitable as we leveraged the existing fixed cost base.

New Customer Growth

Added new offerings at checkout including PayPal, ShopRunner, V.me and Masterpass. Led contract negotiations centered on customer guarantees for both PayPal and ShopRunner. These initiatives were successful as our partners met their guaranteed customer commitments and represented a significant portion of the new customer acquisition program for the year.

VP CONTROLLER DIRECT TO CONSUMER 2000 - 2011

Responsible for developing short and long term plans for the newly launched websites. Substantial operational CAPEX and due diligence was required to expand the warehouse (Pinnacle Park) and the call center (Edmonton, Canada) to support catalog and online businesses, as well as supporting and expanding web presence with technology investments. Led sale of Chefs Catalog/website business including post sale transition and system migration. Financial leader on a new business segment (designer sites) that generated $85M in 2014.

Significant Projects:

Customer Care Center Expansion

Collaborated with senior management on a North American study to identify cities that could support a 500 seat call center and peak season hiring demands. Recommended Edmonton, Canada and modeled an analysis including call center redundancy and hedges in currency. Created a separate legal entity and opened in August 2001 with great success.

Transform catalog centric inventory management system

Led a project centered on the product, versus the catalog offer, while streamlining numerous business operating processes and eliminated countless non value added activities. The core of this model is still leveraged today.

Neiman Marcus’s key vendors’ online presence

Built a business model that provided the front end website and all back end fulfillment and customer care needs for the vendor. Business grew substantially both in number of vendors and volumes, however vendors wanted more control and profits. Last designer site migrated to the vendor in September 2014.

DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING 1994 - 2000

Responsible for the Neiman Marcus brand general accounting office including Revenue/Sales Audit, Merchandise Inventory Accounting, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Real Estate Accounting, Cash and Banking, Sales Tax Compliance, Expense Payables, as well as internal and external reporting, quarterly and annual external audits. Managed entire balance sheet ensuring financial integrity via timely, by account, a detailed reconciliation process was maintained.

Significant Projects:

Gift Cards

One of eight team members who designed and implemented electronic Gift Cards for Christmas 1996, first retailer to offer electronic gift cards. Concept to launch completed in six months. Transformed the gifting model for consumers. At a later date, issued merchandise return gift cards eliminating numerous non value added activities across the enterprise.

Foreign Currency Hedging

Foreign currency fluctuations were creating a negative impact on business operations and company profits. Collaborated with a team to implement a guaranteed landed cost model for all imported goods including currency hedging. This model is still being used today.

Vendor coop and billing system

Substantial vendor coop was moved from an excel based manual environment to the main frame, leveraging vendor contracts and billing rates. Standardized practices across the organization driving to improved profitability.
