JOB – NATURE AND DUTIES:

Responsible for various media preparations under strict asceptic conditions.

Worked as a part of the whole team under the Microbiology Department,also Biochemistry and Haematology Department.

Perform manual,semi automated,fully automated laboratory investigations accurately and efficiently.

Responsible for sample receipt,numbering and data entry on to the computer system.

Assist in the introduction of new techniques.

Maintain records on such matters as tests performed,test results,methods,materials and procedures used,and inventory records.

Be able to record test results on the computer and manual systems in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures.

Responsible for preparing smears and staining slides.

Responsible for examination of cultured plates regularly, giving respective samples in Vitek – 2 compact system required in proper time of all patients.

Responsible for reporting in proper time of all patients.

Performing various serology tests including various ELISA procedures in VIDAS (Biomerieux) and also by manual method.

Performing swab cultures taken from various departments including OT &ICU’s for control of infections and reporting correctly.

Active participation in the Clinical Microbiology and Serology EQAS under the auspices of IAMM.

For the Identification (ID) and susceptibility (AST) testing of microorganisms. Also provides completed antibiotic information for an isolate (antibiotic, MIC, interpretation, phenotypes).

For performing HIV and HbsAg ELISA procedures. (Immunfluorescent assay technique)
