Senior Manager, PMO (2015)

Senior Manager, Wireless Global PMO (2010-2015)

Joined CommScope following its $3.0 billion purchase of TE Connectivity. With TE Connectivity, requested to lead the Wireless PMO and implement TE lifecycle and new product development processes. Facilitated ongoing support of PMO, leading geographically dispersed team of 5 project managers and 15 indirect reports (India, China, Germany, U.K. U.S.) on project activities to ensure fulfillment of commitments (e.g. contract with Project Approval Committee defining resources, financial needs, schedule needs, and standard deliverables). Managed ~$1 million annual budget.

Directed monthly project review meeting for all projects exiting phase gate or out-of-contract. Additionally facilitated bi-weekly meeting on research project activities and monthly portfolio management meetings.

Implemented LEAN Product Development Process (LEANPD) that defined governance, policies, procedures, metrics, reports, and standards to support phase-gate approach for Wireless business unit.

Built record of consistent achievement and advancement through increasingly responsible positions / roles. As Manager of Design Engineering, directed design team for the Digivance DAS platform. As Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, led team of 5 manufacturing engineers in support New Product Introduction activities for multiple product design centers nationwide (products included high and low power DAS platforms, CDPD repeaters, Tower Mounted Amplifiers, and Linear Power Amplifiers. As Manufacturing Engineer, provided NPI support of the Waseca development center on the initial DAS.

Guided design team in meeting goals for products that generated $75 million-plus in annual revenues, including Long Range Coverage Solution, Indoor Coverage Solution, and others.

Ensured on-time, fully defined product deliverables that supported global manufacturing via contract manufacturers through collaborations and leadership with the design team.

Led multiple initiatives engaging OEM, ODM to augment in-house design resource capacities.

Transitioned product portfolio to and from CM’s both domestic and international. Extensive experience in moving products from one CM to another.

Led and/or provided engineering support for several plant transitions. In some cases it was a relocation effort of all Business Unit assets staged to mitigate customer impacts. While in other cases it entailed transfer of technology, processes/methodologies, capital assets, inventory etc. as a result of a facility closure. Although I have extensive experience in both, I am quite adept to the unique needs of the latter.

II Morrow Inc. (wholly owned subsidiary of UPS, now part of the Garmin Corp.) – Salem OR.- 1989-1995

II Morrow became the technology arm of UPS developing the DIAD (Delivery Information Acquisition Device) IVIS (In Vehicle Information Systems), Fleet Tracking/Monitoring, as well as a consumer products division specializing in Consumer GPS/Navigation products.

Manufacturing Engineering (Process Support)

II Morrow was a highly vertically integrated manufacturer. I supported various processes including: PCBA (Mixed technology), Matched-core Coil winding, Cable/Harness assembly, Photo lab generating silkscreens printing, On-site metal plating, full complement of metal fabrication equipment (Brakes, Punch Presses, lathes, etc.), Unit/System Test, Product burn-in, etc.

Co-Authored Cable / Harness Quality workmanship manual. This manual was leveraged internally as well as specified for all external sourcing.

Supported extensive search for contract cable manufactures to support IVIS Program. This entailed evaluating tooling, processes, capabilities, and quality performance of harsh environment cable/harness assemblies intended for installation into UPS’s tractor trailer fleet

Manufacturing Engineering (NPI)

Led all aspects of New Product Introduction activities; supporting new and existing product releases. Developed work cells and adjusted for load balancing to maximize production throughput. Evaluated and proposed new tooling/automation to drive efficiency and decrease risks associated with repetitive motion injuries.

Designed HALT / HASS fixtures. Designed mechanical interface that enabled multiple PCBA’s to be tested at the same time. This saved significant cycles and quickly drove enhancement s to ensure a robust shock resistant DIAD design.

Spearheaded efforts to drive increased cross functional team engagement. Led several team building exercises to drive improved DFM / DFT. These sessions were instrumental opening dialogs and sharing insights.
