Senior Director of Manufacturing Operations 2014-2015

Managed manufacturing operations for all Texas based locations to achieve corporate objectives for production and quality, as well as met all established requirements for regulatory compliance, safety and efficiency. Activities included plant management, production, purchasing, facilities and manufacturing engineering for two manufacturing sites and a 3PL.

Led the team in a full ERP system conversion from Tempo to Oracle.

Implemented Lean processes in all facilities improving efficiencies and reducing floor space usage for the production lines by 50%, these efforts created space to add an additional injection-molding machine increasing vertical integration capacity.

Implemented a comprehensive safety program including all required personal protective equipment and related maintenance system.

Successfully completed merger activities creating a “Center of Excellence” for Breg in Grand Prairie, TX.

Director, Manufacturing Operations 2010-2014

The operations activities include Custom Product Manufacturing, Warehouse and Distribution, Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics, Import/Export compliance and the Mexicali maquiladora operations.

Implemented one-piece flow in Mexicali improving efficiencies over 45%.

Led cross-functional teams in two mergers and acquisitions successfully integrating over two thousand additional part numbers leading to over $38M in additional revenue.

Incorporated lean processes in the warehouse and East Coast Distribution center reducing inventory levels by over 20%.

Successfully relocated the entire business from Vista to Carlsbad with no impact to the customer in quality or order fulfillment.

Responsible for the technical leadership of the San Diego business Change Control Board a critical element of the Quality System. The team consisted of upper level management and was responsible for ensuring proper document compliance for all change orders.

Increased document compliance from 20% first pass yield to greater than 80% first pass yield in less than six months.

Coordinated needed changes to the Quality System, simplifying processes to enhance clarity and ease of workflow for the change order process, which lead to increased first pass yield of validation documents.

Implemented training program for all personnel involved in the change order process that utilized actual documents demonstrating a best in class change order and samples of common mistakes to look for.

Director, Materials Management – Alaris/Cardinal health/Pyxis 2005 – 2009

Responsible for the global sourcing, warehousing and logistics including close interface with customer contracts to prioritize and establish production rates to support the manufacture and customer delivery of Infusion and Dispensing products.

Successfully budgeted for the San Diego Instrument Manufacturing plant - $5M for MFG - Value of Production (VOP) for the material cost of the product purchased, the labor and overhead cost, which was greater than $400M for the product that flowed through the plant for a global market. Also responsible for spare parts and FG management.

Hand selected to lead the Pyxis products manufacturing Management team during their lean implementation, earning the Cardinal Health Innovation award with the following results: $22M in FY 07 savings and floor space reduction from 462,000 square feet to 149,000 square feet. $7M FY 05 savings and $11.2M FY06 savings as well as $50M in inventory reduction while increasing customer satisfaction through continually increasing order fulfillment to 99.8% for Dispensing finished goods as well as 95% for independent demand for repair parts.

Responsible for supply chain activities in the Tijuana maquiladora.

Senior Manager, Procurement – Alaris/Cardinal Health 2003 – 2005

Responsible for inventory management as well as production planning. Managed plant through numerous new product releases while maintaining customer satisfaction and 99%+ order fulfillment.

Reduced raw material inventory levels year over year while production levels were increasing.

Led various teams in lean endeavors continuously reducing waste.

Managed the Medley excellence team focused on the printed circuit board supplier. Significantly reduced failure rate experienced in production and by our customers by implementing process controls.

Manager, Procurement – Alaris 2001 – 2003

Responsible for inventory management and the implementation of a visual inventory control system.

Led implementation of a visual material replenishment system leading to a $20M reduction in raw material inventory as well as consolidating all required material into a single warehouse.

Managed the purchasing team in efforts to reduce lead-time while increasing supplier quality and reliability resulting in 98% order fulfillment for small parts and 99% fulfillment for finished goods.

SONY, San Diego, CA 1995 – 2001

Engineering Coordinator, Hardware Quality Control Engineer, Production Supervisor, Technical Process Engineer

Oversaw all production and successfully launched Vaio computers, PlayStation, three cell phone models and WebTV into the US market.

Achieved 28% first pass yield improvement using defect cause and analysis, improvement plans and quantitative analysis of production processes and supplier quality.

Coordinated engineering responsibilities associated with new model introduction, which in computer industry were five to six models every quarter.
