Profile
I am an enthusiastic, innovative teacher with excellent spoken and written English proficiency who taught English for three years to different groups of students from higher education in Bogota, Colombia. In addition, I worked for DCPS teaching Spanish to elementary students at Garfield and Hendley ES for one year.
I have the teaching ability to create a very pleasant and successful learning environment by implementing small group instruction in which students’ needs are covered by doing independent and cooperative work to develop their intellectual skills in the target language.
On the other hand, I did a research project focused on motivation to foster and develop the reading habit among high school students in English as a second language (ELL). Furthermore, I took part as a research assistant on a project based on the importance of designing readiness activities for ELL students to build strong foundations in their language acquisition process.
Finally, I have strong interpersonal skills, classroom management, and optimal creativity to problem solving. I am a person who always wants to stand out among the rest as being punctual, organized, and responsible with assigned tasks. Also, I have all the mental and physical abilities to closely follow instructions and fulfill all duties in a busy environment.
Core Competences include: Ability to develop students' commitment to their second language learning process; find creative ways to solve different class issues; listen and contribute to other colleagues' ideas, discover opportunities to collaborate with groups as a way to build up practical experience and knowledge
