FREELANCE CONSULTANT: Wrote as a special contributor for the Dallas Morning News. Wrote and edited autobiography titled “King of Clubs: Grow Rich In More Than Money,” on the late Robert Dedman, founder of ClubCorp, published in 1999. Acknowledged and published editor of “A Minor: A Novel of Love, Music and Memory,” by Margaret Ann Philbrick in 2014. Other freelance clients include: ClubCorp, Urbanmarket, Central Market, the Federal Home Loan Bank and Levenson & Hill Public Relations, all of Dallas; Computer Language Research, Carrollton; and C. Blohm & Associates, Cottage Grove, WI. Former publicist for Cebolla Fine Flowers and customer service representative for Dr. Delphinium Designs and Events, both of Dallas.

MEDIA RELATIONS: Developed and maintained network of national, local and trade media contacts for the nation’s largest railroad, a major aerospace and defense company, and freelance clients across the country. Prepared media statements and news releases on key events, including crisis situations, weapon systems, capital expenditures and customer service initiatives. FINANCIAL COMMUNICATIONS: Managed $500,000 annual budget to produce two consecutive award-winning shareholders’ reports for the nation’s largest railroad. Included supervision of writing, design, production and distribution of more than 125,000 reports per year.

CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS: Served as spokesperson for media queries on all train derailments, crossing accidents/fatalities, hazardous chemical spills and other service interruptions, including 48-hour national rail strike and massive flooding in the Midwest. Acted as media expert for 2 successful U.S. weapon systems in the Desert Shield/Desert Storm conflict.

EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATIONS: Established targeted bi-monthly newsletter with 10,000-plus circulation for the Brotherhood of the Maintenance of Way, the largest of 13 railroad unions. Managed quarterly publication for all U.S. Army personnel who operated, maintained and supported the proven Multiple Launch Rocket System and the Army Tactical Missile System. Contributed to numerous external, internal and marketing publications in writing and design as both corporate team player and freelancer/consultant.

Included development of a media relations booklet of 30 priority locations identified as environmental "hot spots" to better manage negative media exposure.

Honored with the Chairman's Circle Award for “outstanding communications support” of the System Engineering group as only the second recipient outside that group to receive award.

Contributed to a variety of communications tools designed to help people deal with change, job elimination and a company in transition as part of BN’s merger with Santa Fe Railway.
