Senior Applications Consultant – Warner Bros. Project 2015-Present

Member of the project team where major enhancements as well as new development for the Category Management business unit is the primary focus. Staff is required to manage their individual projects from inception to completion. This includes information gathering of business rules from the business unit, writing and maintaining both technical and business requirement documents, developing, coding and scheduling new business processes, establishing test and implementation plans and performing post implementation support.

Rebuild US and Canada Physical Industry – Due to a cost saving company mandate because of a break in a long term relationship with a large data provider, devised a methodology to build US and Canada physical industry based on existing retailer sales for home entertainment products. Led an analytic and development team through the project life cycle with concentration on acquiring business rules, documentation, development, unit testing, business unit testing, job scheduling, implementation and initial support. Benefits to the business community included increase in data quality, more timely data availability prompting faster delivery of dashboards to senior management and elimination of vendor data charges.

Amazon Digital Consolidation Effort – Planned and designed a new process that combines four individual business sessions consolidating them into one business application. Worked with the business community on a singular product attribute set for the multiple sales territories being published in the data warehouse. Challenges included timings for the weekly feeds, international titles, common FTP site file pickups and business supplied product overrides. The new process enables the client to modify their business feeds into one deliverable set of files saving them time and money while having the data prepared for reporting at one set time during the business week.

Senior Applications Consultant – Warner Bros. Core Support 2009-2015

Acting as a liaison between Information Technology and the Category Management/Data Management business unit, focus was on providing data analysis, developing high level analytical data queries and the application of business rules in existing and new processes. Provided continued global support for a unit that reports directly to senior management at the Warner Bros. account. Areas of expertise are retailer and industry sales data, product attribute management, digital formats, data restatements and ad hoc analytical reporting.

Digital Industry – Managed a team of consultants in the development and support of an in-house digital industry system. The system, rebuilt every day, provides an overview of digital sales for theatrical and television titles as well as games and games hardware. The system utilizes retailer data, multiple industry sources, business user provided overrides and extrapolated sales to deliver reports and dashboards to senior management.

Retailer Industry – Built a subsystem that publishes and aggregates sales and product data for one of America’s leading retailers. The data is loaded based on a complex industry calendar. The process allows senior management to gain understanding of how the retailer compares to the entire industry as a whole on a comparable weekly basis.

Auto Log Elimination – Saved the information technology unit time and money by developing a process that eliminates the creation of automatic incident tickets. Worked with the ORSYP job scheduling team to institute a program where critical job recognition is evaluated, job failures are reported only at a certain level and lead the training of all resources using the new system.

Systems Expert for Retailer Processing – Determines the priority and impact of every retailer incident in the systems. Incidents can take the form of job failures, data anomalies and reporting issues. Delegates and manages all fixes, code changes, implementations, reruns and schedules for a team of 5 developers and support personnel.

WARNER HOME VIDEO, Burbank, CA 1996 – 2009

The home video unit of Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc., itself part of Time Warner, which distributes and markets in eighty countries.

Manager, Data Management/Category Management 2006 - 2009

Prototype and build new applications and data load processes tailored for specialized analytics. Identify and correct data anomalies for third party information sources as well as the Warner Home Video data warehouse. Provide Category Management business users with recommendations, ideas and approaches to utilize optimal reporting techniques by creating benchmarking templates and database queries.

Global Hardware – Eliminated manual processing and decreased business user man hours by extrapolating buy rates through an automated ETL process. Instrumental in forecasting home video sales, buy rates are calculated by application of business rules and formulas derived from point of sale video hardware data. Formula results determine the number of unique households purchasing varying video platforms in a global market. Project lead in the development of data model architecture, requirements gathering, ETL, insuring data quality and user acceptance testing.

Digital Distribution – Decreased complicated business manual processes and overhead costs by having architected, coded and maintained a data warehouse repository where information was available for immediate analytics and dashboard reporting utilizing MicroStrategy and Business Objects.

Category Management Web Portal – Increased portability and improved support by transforming existing ETL scripts to company standards. Enhanced productivity through SQL tuning and adding new primary, secondary and join indices to the data model. The real time, on-line portal includes information on box office revenue, video sales, promotional expenditures and global hardware data.

One Off Ad-Hoc Reporting – Aided and assisted business users and category captains by constructing one off reporting and data dumps. Examples include a percentage of top WalMart titles by store that was utilized in a combined senior management meeting; Circuit City sales, returns and shipments analytics designed for Circuit City management; provided a detailed sales report outlining Hispanic markets for marketing and sales managers.

Senior Applications Developer 1996 - 2006

Assessed, developed and maintained technical applications based on business requirements for Warner Home Video legacy and Category Management systems residing on a Teradata data warehouse. Ensured integrity for both incremental and summary data loaded and stored in the data warehouse. Data included point of sale, manufacturing, customer, product, internal sales, budgets, promotions and planograms.

Warner Home Video / Teradata Project – Consolidated systems, provided data accessibility and economized report scheduling by converting home video systems to a Teradata data warehouse. Four year project included star schema design, data architecture and modeling, documentation, requirements gathering, coding, job scheduling and support.

Derived POS - Derived point of sale information for business accounts where POS data is not obtainable due to contractual issues resulting in more viable forecasting results. Extrapolated values and formulas that were based on past sales data across a number of select accounts and products.

Accounts Receivable/ Returns Conversion – Converted HP 3000 receivable and returns system to the data warehouse. Not part of the original data warehouse project due to complexity, maintainability and cost savings were attained due to data accessibility and concise job scheduling. Decreased business staff by 50 % due to elimination of manual processes.

Revenue Sharing Subsystem – Maintained productivity and enhanced senior management reporting by leading a team that designed, coded, tested and supported a revenue sharing subsystem. Developed as a temporary automated process the system remained for three years saving manpower and costs due to manual processing.
