RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
University of North Texas, Denton - Advisor: Prof. Rajiv Mishra Current
Overcoming the grand challenge of poor room temperature toughness in magnesium alloys via FSW
Achieved a higher toughness of magnesium sheet alloys (considered a grand challenge) by modifying the microstructure via friction stir processing.
Developed a theoretical toughness model through FEA (ABAQUS) for stress analysis
Studied the macroscopic strain distribution and plastic zone size development in the sample during toughness testing with the help of DIC. Studied failed toughness samples through SEM.
Enhancement of mechanical properties of a magnesium composite through FSW
Demonstrated exceptional strength-ductility combination compared to other magnesium composites.
Investigation of microstructural evolution during friction stir processing of A286 austenitic stainless steel
Explored the processing-microstructure after FSW of A286 (austenitic steel)
Attained improvement in wear and mechanical properties
Development of magnetic metal matrix and magnetostrictive composites through friction stir processing
Pioneered the fabrication of a magnetic composite through FSW and ultrasonic welding in Al matrix.
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore - Advisor: Prof. Rajeev Ranjan ME thesis
Examined the high temperature behavior of xBi(Zn0.5Ti0.5)O3-(1-x)PbTiO3 ferroelectric in order to understand its high tetragonality of 1.11 and a very high Tc of about 7000C.
National Institute of Technology, Rourkela - Prof. Arun Chowdhury B. Tech thesis
Synthesis and characterization of Magneto Electric composites by the Auto-Combustion route (Nickel Ferrite in Barium Titanate matrix)
Vikram Sarbhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, Summer Internship - Dr. Gopinath Pai and Mr. Suresh Kumar
