Responsible for those suppliers performing APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) for selected purchased parts

Perform activities with the purpose to quality assure purchased items within projects and product maintenance in order to minimize supplier related quality failures at Manitowoc plant or end-customers

Review and identify suppliers’ manufacturing risks and potential for improvement.

Perform Process Audits at suppliers

Review APQP and PPAP deliverables during regularly scheduled project meetings

Review critical characteristics, documentation, requirements and procedures at supplier location

Provide timely disposition of submitted PPAP documentation from Manitowoc suppliers. Have reviewed well over 5000 PPAP’s

Initiate and follow up on all 8D’s until satisfied/approved.

Represent SQA in resolving any issues within project/product implementation team initiative

Generate and track product or process related deviations in order to support production until full approval and compliance can be obtained

Review and assist in quality rejections that occur in the manufacturing environment as a result of supplier deficiencies

In addition to the above

Effectively drive assigned aspects of the Supplier Quality Management system to the supply base, including supplier evaluation, approval and development:

Work directly with suppliers to ensure compliance with SQA system

Monitor supplier performance and communicate on key metrics and ratings

Evaluate and monitor supplier validation/qualification and process changes systems, methods and equipment

Conduct supplier surveys and make recommendations for improvement of supplier quality systems, manufacturing processes, pricing and delivery performance

Provide guidance to supplier as to the use of quality tools, defect analysis and corrective action implementation

Technical guidance relative to Quality Systems, including FMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flows, SPC, Failure Analysis etc as required

Monitor and drive supplier corrective action and continuous improvement activities that directly impact product quality

Coordinate and drive the resolution of rejected material

Drive the evaluation of suppliers for new product development

Monitors and facilitates quality activities for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Verifies process control, capability and sustainability of the supplier.

Investigate supplier quality issues concerning products and/or processes.

Execute standard supplier quality processes to facilitate issue resolution and validation

Gather and analyze internal and external data to help identify exposure, impact, root causes and corrective actions

Perform supplier certification through the Global Supplier Quality Audit

Contact all suppliers and offer assistance in any quality problems related to JLG ideas.

Visit all suppliers on a routine basis. Visit all new suppliers prior to their first delivery.

Assist with first article inspection and PPAP whenever possible for all first time orders by new suppliers or first time deliveries of new part numbers by existing suppliers.

Evaluate the supplier’s quality system and maintain a record of such, updating the records as changes are made.

Act as the liaison in-house to get information, engineering changes or deviation requests when necessary for suppliers.

Travel as required and maintain a file for each assigned supplier.
