Development Consultant

Served as sole on-site Platform team-member supporting software licensed to LANL. As subject matter expert, modified software to address LANL requirements both via direct code changes and close collaboration with Canadian-based Professional Consulting and Support Department.

Supported Platform software through 3 computer generations using different LANL cluster architectures including SGI non-uniform memory access, Compaq with advanced Quadrics low latency interconnects, and BProc commercial off-the-shelf systems.

Ported Platform software to several different computer architectures for LANL and other Platform customers.

DUPONT & CO., Wilmington, DE 1977-2000

Global leader in chemical manufacturing

Consultant / Senior Engineer / Engineer

Served as key member of Engineering Department Applied Math Consulting Group. Developed/enhanced mathematical models for DuPont manufacturing processes. Performed numerical analysis, and coding consultation/projects for researchers at the principle DuPont research laboratory.

Performed numerical analysis and computer coding to solve differential equations describing physical phenomena being modeled as formulated for environmental models addressing Freon/Ozone stratospheric chemistry, global warming, and deepwell waste injection flow and containment.

Contributor to development of DuPont ozone depletion and global warming models, leading to development of more environmentally friendly 2nd and 3rd generation Freon products including environmental analysis of new potential products.

Key contributor to development of DuPont deepwell waste injection flow and containment models.

oDocumented DuPont deepwell flow and containment models and present technical details to EPA Region 6 officials, contributing to EPA approval of operating permits for all DuPont deepwell sites and mitigating $millions/year of incremental expense.

oPerformed extensive perturbation study of the DuPont deepwell models to quantify model uncertainties mandated by EPA, due to discrepancies between DuPont and EPA models. Demonstrated that EPA calculations were performed with inadequate models on inadequate computer systems.

Developed models of cyclohexane oxidation, reverse osmosis gas separation processes, and electro-chemical sensors from formulation of equations, through development of final model software, to user training.
