Lexington Park - Topeka, KS - March 2016 to Present Prior to finding this position i worked two temporary positions, while looking for a rehabilitation position. I work in the rehabilitation, rapid recovery unit. Helping people with many different health issues. It is very rewarding to see them get to return to there homes, and be able to function in a productive life and see the happiness in their faces.

MDS Corridinator, schedules The MDS calender, runs the Wellness meeting, part of the medicare meetings, risks meetings, part of the administrative team. Assess residents for Medicare assessments, and documentation, I write careplans. I work closely with therapy to provide the needed therapies for our residents. I have worked thru my nursing career in this facility as a medication aide, a LPN charge nurse, and again as a RN charge nurse. Then returned years later as the Assist Director of Nursing and, a MDS Corridinator. I built a needed trust of the staff and became the person to go to with concerns. I helped to educate the staff as to the need for correct documentation for the MDS process to be correct. I have keep our MDS'S current . Have with a part time assitant, actually completed 150 MDS'S in a month. But I believe my main impact at our care home has been to enrich the lives of our wonderful elderly residents. I want each day to be special for our residents. I treat them with a caring heart. Respect, compassion, and a smile. I believe a smile and compassion is the best way to build a patient to nurse relationship and develope trust. I have always enjoyed working with people, I can't imagine doing anything else. The skills I have used is my nursing knowledge and experiences, my knowledge of the Medicare process, I received my education of the MDS process and after testing, I earned my certification from the state (RAC- CT). I continue to learn everday.

I worked with my staff and was the charge nurse on two units. One was for our dementia residents that needed a controlled invironment and the other was the larger unit with all other residents. I cared for, assessed the residents health and needs, helped the aides when they need me, took care of resident respiratory treatments, dressing changes, skin treatments, passed medications, assessed with lifting,charting, and cleaning equipment.

Accomplishments

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I worked at Aldersgate in Topeka Ks. My title was clinical services, my job was wotking for the vice president of clinical services/ DON, I was doing ADON work with out that title. I did employee health, infection control and helped with the employee orientation process. I created a employee appreciation program for the company, to recognize staff, for special behaviors that were above and beyond there job discriptions. I brought the TB testing for the employees into compliance with the state and kept them there the entire time that I worked there. I helped plan the flu clinics, and assisted with giving the vaccines. I was the one that started the first H1N1 vaccine clinic. I found a training facility for the nursing staff to attend to develope, the needed skills or to refreshed their skills, for our post acute unit. I have my evaluations from my boss from Aldersgate as she no longer works there. I also have a recommendation letter from another past employer praising me as a nurse and praising my character.
