SUMMARY

I am an organized and committed professional who will be an asset to your office environment. I have strong interpersonal and communication skills and wide life experience.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

I spent the last 18 years as primary caregiver for my four daughters. With my youngest now in elementary school and my oldest starting college, I feel ready to rejoin the workforce, using the skills and strengths I developed in earlier years, along with those I have learned through successfully managing the needs, budget, and activities of a large family for nearly two decades.

WORK EXPERIENCE

08/2014 – 10/2015 Cafeteria Worker: Sodexo (School District of Oconee County, SC)

I started as a substitute, and was offered a full time position at Oakway Intermediate School in April 2015. The work was what you would expect in a cafeteria: cooking and cleaning up. I left the job because my oldest daughter needed to be out of school for an extended time for health reasons, and she needed her mom to be home with her.

Large gap here: These were long years of raising children, organizing schedules, volunteering at schools, planning innumerable meals, and driving so many miles from one activity to the other that I and my minivan truly became one!

06/1995 – 04/1998 Secretary: James Mallory’s Law Office, Fort Worth, TX

I began with Mr. Mallory’s office as a secretary, handling walk-in and phone clients in our large practice. Dealing with Class C misdemeanors in a major metropolitan area, Mr. Mallory’s covered every court jurisdiction in Tarrant County, TX. When I left the practice, I was a “notify secretary,” which meant that I was responsible for all the correspondence to and from, and all the paperwork pertaining to, eleven of the courts in which we represented clients. I handled every memo, letter, notification, and phone call that went back and forth between our office and the court or the clients.

08/1992 – 08/1994 Church Secretary, Youth Worker, Jack-of-all-Trades, Berkshire Baptist Church, Shillington, PA

I worked with Berkshire Baptist Church for two years as part of a contract with the North American Mission Board. I did a little of everything: youth ministry, teaching, organizing, office work, and outreach.

10/1987 – 06/1991 Cashier, Hardee’s Restaurant, Centreville, AL

Hardee’s was my first job. On my first night, I was put on the drive-through window after a football game! It was truly a sink-or-swim situation. I swam. I worked at Hardee’s during summers and Christmas breaks through high school and college.

EDUCATION

1994 – 1996 Theology and Church Ministry, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, TX

I spent two years learning about the teachings of the Bible and the ministry of the church in the world. Helping others should never be confined to the church – our ability to help others depends on our willingness to bloom where we are planted.

1988 – 1992 B.S. in Rehabilitation, Troy University, Troy, AL

I entered Troy University as a Journalism major. I quickly learned that Journalism wasn’t my field…but Rehabilitation was. We focused on Vocational Rehabilitation, as both of our primary professors were employed in and passionate about that field. The primary principle in Vocational Rehabilitation is that everyone has value and can contribute; our job was to help find discover an individual’s strengths and abilities. I loved the classes and the simple but profound reinforcement of human worth and dignity.
