Philosophy of Education Statement

It is my belief that all children can learn, as well as my goal as the classroom teacher to create a productive learning environment. In order for a child to learn, he or she must feel safe to take risks, show motivation, exhibit good citizenship, and try new things. By creating an environment of mutual respect and acceptance within the classroom, each child can reach an educational peak every day.

I strive for each child to develop a hunger for learning. I work to present the educational material through a variety of different techniques and learning styles. My classroom instruction includes the incorporation of music, drama, hands on, oral instruction and recitation, graphical display, video, art projects, etc., into instruction to adequately address the diversity of learning styles in any given classroom.

I place a heavy emphasis on reading in my classroom, and I encourage my students to excel in that area. I believe that good reading skills are the key to success in all academic areas. It is my goal to create life-long learners of all students as well as students who are responsible citizens. My challenge as an educator is to empower them with the tools to become the best that they can be. My desire is to have every child leave my classroom with a sense of self-worth and purpose of themselves, and knowing that, with hard work, discipline and resilience they can become achievers.
