Industrial Electrician/ Maintenance Mechanic

PROFILE:

With extensive experience in electrical and mechanical installation and repair, I offer skills in identifying and solving problems with industrial equipment in an ever-changing industrial environment. My training and experience in the Navy laid the groundwork for my career in industrial maintenance. I left the radars to the Navy in 1987 and started at National Standard soon after. I’ve worked on a large variety of machines both large and small ever since. I worked “multicraft” positions with an emphasis on my electrical skills for several years, gaining knowledge and experience in the mechanical trades along the way. My latest position was as a journeyman electrician in a union(UAW) shop where my primary duties included maintenance of CNC machine tools and high temperature furnaces.

Areas of Experience

Maintained CNC machine tools including (but not limited to) such makers as Makino, Motch, Okuma and G&L with FANUC, Allen Bradley and various OEM controls.

Set-up, maintained, repaired, and some programming of Industrial Welding Robots (Hitachi and Automatix brands) with Miller and Lincoln welding equipment.

PLC experience includes installation, programming and troubleshooting.

Installed, maintained, programmed Programmable Spot welding Controls including such brands as Medar, Robitron and Techtronics.

Maintained and repaired Metal Stamping Presses and associated machinery (Straighteners, Decoilers, Feeders) including complete rewiring and installation of Solid State controls.

Maintained, repaired and modified Injection Molding and Compression Molding presses in the Plastics Industry.

Designed and built many various control panels and cabinets for industrial use.

Installed and repaired various Ac and Dc Motor Drives including such brands as Reliance, G.E. and Allen Bradley.

Basic Machine Shop experience using vertical mills, engine lathes, surface-grinders, drill presses, etc., etc.

Installed, maintained, repaired Industrial Process Ovens (electric).

Installed, modified, repaired Gas-fired Heat-treating Furnaces.

Experience with Oxyacetylene Torch including brazing, cutting, and silver-solder.

Experience with Tig Welding (also some Arc and some Mig welding).

Designed and built various specialized Fixtures utilizing pneumatic drills, vices, cylinders, etc., complete with electric controls to perform specialized tasks.

Fabrication experience (sheet metal and steel) using brakes, nibblers, shears, etc.

Experienced in troubleshooting, repair and rebuilding of both Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems with components such as cylinders, valves, switches and motors.
