Assessed feasibility of an installed Combined Heat & Power system at Universities in Illinois, Minneapolis and Los Angeles

Modeled and simulated the CHP system based on the equipment sizes, specifications, utility and other relevant cost by using eQuest in order to calculate the most cost effective, fuel efficient and emission savings system

UIC Engineering Senior Design Project, Chicago, IL August 2012- May 2013 Design Engineer of Air Separation and Syngas Plant

Worked in a team of four chemical engineer students. Researched for articles related to the design, process and economics.

Initiated and remained as a primary contact in between companies for literature, pricing and sizing on equipment.

Constructed material balances and energy balances and built the Block Flow Diagrams (BFD), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) that define the material and energy balance. Worked on ASPEN Plus and ASPEN Hysys for simulating distillation columns, compressors, heat exchangers in order to get more logical results for gas processing part

Used computer-aided design (CAD) system to complete schematic diagrams for the project and produced the 2D drawing that display the information and the specifications for the model of the plant

Implemented heat integration to optimize energy efficiency of processes and economic analysis to estimate total installed costs of equipment and operation costs and project net present value and determined the heat transfer coefficients for all of the heat exchangers in the whole system.
