TECHNICAL PROJECT

Worked on a Project of Separative Extraction of Azadiractin from Neem Seed Kernels.

Azadiractin is one of the components of Neem Seeds that can be used for making of Bio pesticides. As today’s world turning to Bio farming, extraction of Azadiractin in an economical way may of great use.

The present project was intended to extract Azadirachtin from neem seed kernel using solvent extraction method. Azadiractin the principal active constituent of neem seed kernel ranges from 0.2- 0.6 percent. A simplified procedure when compared to established methods would be proposed to enrich Azadiractin to 50% using minimum possible steps without resorting to chromatographic techniques. Enrich product would find immense utility in preparing formulations with high Azadiractin.

Found the Thermodynamic Feasibility of the system, material and energy balance involved, kinetics, design some of the major equipments and costing.

Also prepared a proper Block Diagram, Process Flow Diagram, utility Diagram and P & ID of the taken system.

INPLANT TRAINING

And, completed 4 weeks training in Rashtriya Chemicals And Fertilisers Ltd, Chembur, Mumbai in Ammonia V plant.

Obtained Brief knowledge of how Ammonia is manufactured.

Gathered perceptions of absorption towers, heat exchangers how heat transfer occurs in furnaces etc.

Also role of various unit operations and unit processes involved in this process of Manufacturing.

Details of cooling tower, how it actually works.

Brief idea of effluent treatment plant.

Also about Safety measures taken at plant site.
