I have the desire and discipline necessary to see a job through to completion. My greatest strength is the ability to be a team player and leave my ego at home. I am proficient with a variety of automated accounting systems, including mainframe-based, PC-based, and network-based systems. I have extensive experience as a Controller/CFO for retail and healthcare settings. I am adept with Excel, Lotus, Windows, word processing programs (including Word), and am familiar with program installation and maintenance for both mainframe and personal computers.

I have been active with the Boy Scouts of America and helped 6 boys achieve the lifetime rank of Eagle Scout. I served on the Avoyelles Parish Economic Development District and was elected Treasurer for my last term. We oversaw the development of the Community Master Plan (one of only two central Louisiana parishes to develop a master plan) and are worked with Integrated Resource Recovery, Inc. to bring a major Monofill plant and campus to Avoyelles Parish.

Professional Experience:

January 2002 - Present:

Accountant/Consultant for Larry White Associates, Inc., (HealthCareJobs.net), a Healthcare Recruitment (Professionals) organization. Post and delete positions on the internet, prepare payroll, tax returns and financial statements. Has become a part-time position and the company is experiencing cash flow problems. I would like to return to a more active role in a vibrant organization.

March, 1998 – January 2002:

Contract Accountant for The Bailey Hotel, Larry White Associates, Inc. and Westaff of Alexandria. Prepared the proforma budgets, applications and contracts that resulted in Westaff successful negotiations in attaining the food service contracts for the England Authority and the U.S. Marshal’s training center. Took the contracts from the budgeting and pro-forma stage to weekly reporting to account for food and labor costs to instituting bonus structures and measurement for key contract personnel.

1995 - 1998:

Chief Financial Officer of Rivernorth Hospital (Psychiatric) and Northgate Hospital (Acute Care) in Pineville, Louisiana. Researched and began MSO/IPA for Community Health Systems.

Supervised Psychiatric Partial Hospital (Day Hospital), 3 Outpatient Clinics, Business Office, A/P, Payroll, Data Processing, Pharmacy, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Dietary, and Purchasing.

Prepared all monthly financial statements and related reports under strict deadlines for submission to Community Health Systems in Nashville, Tennessee. Prepared daily, weekly, and monthly corporate reports and expense analysis.

Responsible for budgetary guidelines, schedules, and monitoring of monthly budget/actual comparisons.

Assisted in preparation of semi-annual action plan submitted to corporate directors.

Also prepared audit and tax workpapers and sales tax and payroll tax quarterly and annual reports.

Authorized to sign checks on all bank accounts.

Upon sale of hospitals in October, 1997, promoted to Director of Finance for Psychiatric Operations for Community Health Systems. Responsible for 14 hospitals and their physicians and clinics. This position was eliminated when the company was reorganized and the division was combined with another Vice-President's region.

1989 - 1991:

Director of Accounting at Terrebonne General Medical Center, a 296 bed hospital with gross revenues of $100+ million. Prepared monthly financial statements and Accounts Receivable aging reports. Monitored all financial controls. Prepared $90+ million budget for 50+ departments.

January, 1988 - January, 1989:

Director of Finance for Community Health Network of Louisiana, Inc., a physician-owned HMO with monthly revenues of $1.8 million). Oversaw all accounting functions, including preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and budget preparation, forecasting, and analysis. Was directly responsible for all Accounts Receivable analysis, tracking, and collection. Accountable for all investments and movements of cash. Maintained daily cash analysis reports on 6 bank accounts. One of the three people authorized to sign checks. Reported directly to CEO. Served during transfer of majority ownership from local physicians to William Featheringill of Birmingham, Alabama. Reviewed legal documents, sale conditions, and maintained accounting records on dual systems while the transfer took place.

October, 1977 - December, 1987:

Controller of Prestige Chemical & Supply Co., Inc., a family-owned, retail & wholesale supply company. Prepared all financial reports, tax returns, and payroll reports. Negotiated loans with local banking institutions. Responsible for all personnel policies and records. Prepared all governmental reports on chemicals bought and resold.

January, 1976 - October, 1977:

Staff Accountant with Clement & Bergeron, a CPA firm. Experience included auditing as well as tax return and financial statement preparation. Clients I served included retail concerns, a restaurant, oilfield service companies, fabricators, attorneys, doctors, and dentists.
