Description: Working on an application that serves the financial industry. It is mainly used to generate reports such as a company’s year-end financial reports for its shareholders and so on. It has several modules within it to file accounts, manage data, perform aggregations and generate reports. The tool records all the financial data of the client and generates the report based on the client’s needs. Also, it performs several financial aggregations. SSIS packages are used to process input data. These packages are known as Pre-Processor. They work on the input side of the tool. The client sends the files that are to be loaded into the tool, to generate the reports. The tool has two types of tables. We have to determine which table has to be populated, and process the data accordingly and load the particular table using the SSIS packages. Multiple files are sent by the client. The client needs are documented such as the data they want to load, aggregations that are to be performed etc.

Responsibilities:

Create ETL packages (SSIS packages) using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008. The ETL packages are referred to as pre-processors that process the input data to a financial services based software application.

Deploy the packages to extract data from flat files (.txt files) and load the data into the destination table in the production environment. The table serves as a primary input to the financial services based software application used for generating financial reports.

Implement business logic using the ETL packages, to perform necessary transformations on the data before it is loaded into its final destination table.
