Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alexandria Blackmon, and I finished my Masters of Science degree as an Adult & Gerontology Nurse Practitioner with a minor in Acute Care at the University of Pennsylvania; and also successfully completed the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) Examination. I am writing this letter to express my interest in working at Health Care Institution as a Nurse Practitioner. I am confident that my combination of practical work experience over the last 10 years and solid educational experience has prepared me for making an immediate contribution to your Institution. My last position as working at a Pain Care Clinic providing care to Acute, Chronic pain patient and treatment of patient addicted to opioid pain killers and Heroin. Locum Tenens was as a Nurse Practitioner at Greensville Correctional Center working with chronic care, admission to center and other acute medical issues both in-patent and clinic. I also work at the Salisbury VAMC in Compensation and Pension working with Service Connection for Vet’s. I also worked 2 years in Home Base Primary Care & Hospice dealing with end of life issues and the geriatric population. For over five years I have been performing gastrointestinal procedure and the most recent experience has been working as a Gastrointestinal Procedure Nurse practitioner at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VAMC)-Minneapolis performing paracentesis and flexible sigmoidoscopies. I also worked with GI Surgery-Gastric Bypass, Hernia repairs and other GI surgical procedures for the last four years previous to the VAMC at the University of Minnesota Physician's. I am also an active member of ASBS. I have had the opportunity of working in many different clinical areas; for which I was able to provide screening, management and treatment for various patients illness including: Vascular Surgery, Vascular Wounds, Cardiopulmonary, DM and many complications, dementia, vertigo, Othro., Oncology/ Hematology, infectious diseases such as Hep.B, HD, PD, TB, CF and HIV, both inpatient and clinic based. I am also confident in my clinical skills and decision-making abilities.

In addition, while at the University of Pennsylvania I worked as a Research Assistant, collecting and evaluating data for the Frail Elder Quality of Life study. During this time I received the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Septa Research Poster Presentation Award for a post and paper on Carotid Endartectomy V’s Carotid Angioplasty with Stenting. I have also had the honor of being told by my clinical preceptor that my strengths are having a delightful rapport with my patients, performing accurate comprehensive physical examinations and diagnosis, as well as being able to balance my professionalism with my compassion. It is my hope that my professional, as well as, academic experiences display a devotion to working in the field of medicine and becoming an asset to your Institution.
