A. Supervisor (Fabrication and welding) in Port of Salalah, Oman.(July2003-June2014)

Maintenance of all port handling equipment’s like tractors, trailers, stackers, forklifts, fire trucks, ambulance etc., as and when required. Conduct safety meeting daily.

Fabrication of panels, steel structures, fixtures for equipment’s, containers parts, safety cages, ship parts requirements, project requirements and port operation requirements.

Get B.V. certification for the welder's qualification test "3G" for the ship, equipment and quality repairs of containers.

Trained technicians to operate the shearing, bending machine, also send them to learn English language and computer skills.

Make sop's for ship repairs, container repairs, hot work permit etc.,

Operation procedures for the machineries, sensors for safety doors, emergency stop button etc.

Considering the lead time for the arrival of parts, request for parts through IFS system and follow up. Comfortable with computer systems and software packages such as MS word, excel, email, ifs and sparcs/express system for equipment tracking.

Represented as company representative at sub contractor's location at Sharjah port for the maintenance and repairs of containers and forklifts. Execute ship hatch cover repairs at dry dock in Jeddoff.Execute repairs of ship generators at contractor's facility.

C) Supervisor, Sea Land Services Inc., Dubai, March 1997-October 1998.

Deputed to sub-contractor works at Jebel Ali port as Representative to look after interest of Sea land for pre repair inspections, estimate approval and post repair inspections. Ordering of reefer parts for Thermo king and Carrier parts. Repair of Spreaders used in ship by contractors.

Recommend leased containers for off hire due to severe corrosion. Cost saving initiatives on reefer washing, centralized procurement of reefer gas and tyres.

Settlement of contractor's bills, Prioritize the work as per ships requirement and core returns for reefers.

Ptied containers for export (Pre-Trip Inspection). Maintain minimum inventory of reefer parts. Undergone training in Reefer machinery repairs on Carrier Transicold and Thermo king units.

Repair of “clip on generators” for reefers and power Generators of vessel, ordering of reefer parts, maintain minimum stock of inventory parts.

Maintenance and repairs of containers for various shipping lines as per iicl guide lines. (APL and CMA).

Carried out Feasibility study for setting up of container repair facility at Kandla free trade zone (Gujarat State) as per my company request.

F) Technical Supervisor, Richardson and Cruddas (1972) Ltd, Tamil Nadu, Chennai, September 1977 - January 1981

Fabrication of steel structures like truss, Low alloy steel columns, crane girders, storage tanks, pressure vessels as per drawings for the specific requirement of customers. Test specimen of materials sent to engineering laboratories prior to work and work carried out upon receipt of approval.

Deputed to Hindustan Paper Corporation site in Kerala, India for site fabrication and erection of steel structures.

E) Draughtsman and Inspector, Hackbridge Hewittic and Easun Ltd., Tamil Nadu, Chennai, July 1972- March 1977.To draw detailed drawings of transformer tank and accessories. Make general arrangement drawing as per customer specifications and get the approval. Standardization of transformer parts drawings.

Fabrication of transformer tanks and accessories inspected at sub-contractor's establishment.

Deputed to sub-contractor workshop at Industrial Engineers India (P) Ltd. for the fabrication and inspection of transformer tanks and accessories. Inspection of control panels which are subject to polluted atmosphere for zinc coating by Metalizing will be checked for requisite thickness with the help of Elko meter.

Education Qualifications: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Automobile Technology) – (60%) First Class – 1971. (April 1968-April1971) - M.C.M.Polytechnic, Avadi – Chennai, India.

I have been renewing iicl examination every 5-years once for the past 25-years. (International institute of Container Lessors).Obtained Honors in examination at one time.

Technical Skills

1.TRAINING OF TECHNICIANS: Trained 2-techncians and passed the IICL examination in container repairs.

2.PORT QUAY CRANE shifted to perpendicularly with 5-sub contractors worked under my control and executed the movement as PROJECT IN-CHARGE.

3.MODIFICATIONS: Trailer landing leg, Battery Box for Kalmar Tractors.

4.Rubber tire mounted crane for REFURBISHMENT: Executed by sub-contractor by creating scope of work and selection of sub-contractor.

5.UNLOADING of rubber tire mounted gantry crane from ship: Our technicians work in ship to dismantle lashing materials to pave way for rtg to reach shore safely.

Achievements: Obtained Honors of Outstanding Dedication certificate from Port of Salalah.
