Summary of Education, Skills, and Experience

My experience extends into working directly with families performing individual and family counseling. Furthermore, I have led psychotherapeutic counseling groups and conducted the necessary intake screening assessments for substance abuse and mental /behavioral health clients. I am an analytical/critical thinker who is culturally and gender sensitive.I consider myself to be an enthusiastic, resourceful, dependable, and a creative individual. Over the course of 19 plus years I have been able to gain the education and skills to help individuals in need. I have earned both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology; as well as an Associate’s degree in -substance abuse counseling. I have obtained the NYS Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor trainee license 2011-2016. I most recently earned a second Master’s degree at Argosy University of Atlanta in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program (2-2016) to acquire licensure in the state of Georgia.

Recently hired to deliver Clinical Mental Health Counseling services to individuals and their families using Cognitive Behavior Therapy as the primary treatment modality. I perform Biopsycho-social and Substance abuse assessments, facilitate psychotherapeutic group counseling, and provide community linkages. I am maintaining ACA ethical standards and confidentiality for all clients.

Proactive Management Consulting, LLC

Atlanta, GA (2013-2015) Independent Contractor

After my previous employer’s facility closed I was hired as a Behavior Health Therapist in the Rebound Juvenile Drug Court Program for DeKalb County. In this position I assisted at risk youth on probation as a liaison between the families, the DeKalb County Courts, and the State of Georgia school systems. I met with the youth in their homes on a weekly basis to provide individual and family counseling using Cognitive Behavior Therapy as the primary treatment modality and taught social and coping skills. Furthermore, I administered drug screenings and attended court hearings once a week to provide additional support. I maintained ACA ethical standards and confidentiality for all clients.

During my four years of employment with the Family Help Center of Buffalo; before relocating to the State of Georgia I held two consecutive positions with this not-for-profit organization. In the first position, I was hired as a School Based Social Worker and later promoted to the Educational Success Program Care Coordinator. I was a liaison between high-risk youth and the New York State Juvenile Justice System and Buffalo Public Schools. In both positions my duties included teaching coping and social skill development, case management, and family counseling using Cognitive Behavior Therapy as the primary treatment modality. From the years of 1996 thru 2006 before entering graduate school to attain a Master’s degree in Psychology I was employed at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. Over the ten year span I worked as a Clinic Based Family Outreach Educator. In this position I provided case management and taught coping and social skill development, and provided individual and family counseling using Cognitive Behavior Therapy as the primary treatment modality. Educational Practicum and Internship experience

Season’s Hospice and Palliative Care

Dunwoody, Georgia (2015-16)

During this 10 month internship period I adhered to the integrity of hospice and palliative care policies for the end of life rights of clients. This internship opportunity allowed me to utilize the Existential Psychotherapy treatment modality to provide bereavement counseling to terminally ill hospice patients, their families, and moreover deliver supportive services. I was trained and learned to administer the commonly used mental health wellness scales such as the Diener Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), Warwick Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (WEMBS), and the Spirituality Index of Well-being (SIWB) and Beck Depression Scale. I met with clients on a weekly basis in their homes or hospice care site to address the problematic increased emotional and behavioral difficulties. In addition, I taught clients how to cope with their symptoms of anxiety, despair, grief, loneliness, and isolation resulting from their impending deaths. Furthermore, I followed the ACA code of ethics standards and maintained confidentiality.

In 2009 during my undergraduate studies I was accepted into the Share an Hour Program for Veterans returning from the wars in Iran and Iraq. With this internship opportunity I was able to assist homeless Veterans who suffered with posttraumatic stress and adjustment disorders. As a psychology intern I was trained to administer depression, suicide, and substance abuse screenings. Furthermore, I was appointed to assist the clinical director with research data and other supports. In addition, I had a the privilege of conducting research on veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury for a historical project which was later published in the United States Library of Congress.
