Client 1: Anthem/WellPoint- Data warehousing and Analytics.

Role – Senior Informatica Developer

ANTHEM Inc. is an American health insurance company, prior to 2014 known as WellPoint, Inc. It is the largest for-profit managed health care company in US holding one of the largest data warehouses in healthcare world.

Project#1

Development of ADW-Infa-Cobol Extracts in EDW.

This initiative was to effectively replace the existing ADW data acquisition and extraction process by integrating ADW (DB2) with EDWard. Data that was stored in DB2 tables and that was generated out of mainframe using Cobol-DB2 programs were rewritten to Teradata and Informatica for this project.

Roles and Responsibilities

Designed and implemented the complex project with high quality.

Analyzed functional specifications provided by the architect and created technical specifications.

Developed logical and physical data models, DB2 look alike physical model structures that capture incremental and history data.

Involved in preparing ETL specifications, Performed Developer testing, Unit testing for the Informatica mappings.

Created BTEQ scripts to load data into these staging tables using given mapping rules.

Used SQL overrides in source Qualifier in order to filter the data more effectively at the source level.

Applied different optimization techniques to enhance performance at various levels which includes SQL tuning, transformation optimization and auditing.

Worked in creating scripts to transfer files to Mainframe server and to create mainframe files/GDGs.

Project#2

The NY HCRA remediation project.

This was initiated by audits, between 2002-2007 with Department of Health and self-audits between 2008-2013, concluded that we need to make changes/updates to the way we are calculate surcharge on claims that we pay to the Pools Administrator for the NY Department of Health the way we are assessing covered lives on membership.

Roles and Responsibilities

Successfully lead this GBD project from onshore.

Created technical specification document based on BSD for each workflow in exhaustive detail listing all technical and business validation rules, look-up tables and error messages.

Reviewed the design with project tech lead and test team.

Developed Mappings, Transformations, Sessions and Workflows.

Performed Developer testing, Unit testing, System Testing and UAT Support.

Changed physical data models in LZ, CSA and EDW layer to accommodate new fields received from source. Also produced shadow table for history backup processing.

Configured and ran the Debugger from within the Mapping Designer to troubleshoot predefined mapping.

Created training guides and run books for production support team.

Decommission projects.

Worked in multiple projects in which the plan was to retire existing regional or legacy warehouses and bring complete data into central data warehouse EDW. All reporting extracts had to be repointed to this enterprise data warehouse.

This project provides the ability for GBD FACETS to receive and route to EDWard, Medicare Supplement (MedSupp) claims, including Medicare Cross-over claims, through various channels. This project is for migrating all MedSupp claims processing to GBD FACETS system.

Complete involvement in designing the approach and to successfully deploy the change. Requirement gathering and analysis, estimation, work in take, preparing schedules, design and development, testing and support deployment.

Created complex SCD type 1 & type 2 mappings using dynamic lookup, Joiner, Router, Union, Expression and Update Strategy Transformations.

Created pre-staging tables and applied data profiling methods before loading data to Skelton tables.

Designed data feeds to load Teradata tables from flat files, using BTEQ and other Teradata utilities.

Physical and logical data models were built for this and applied complex ETL transformation rules to load data to target tables.

Re-write Daily movement data processing and sales forecasting.

Business requirement was to re-write the existing scan movement data from mainframe files into ETL processing and for generating reports for sales forecasting. Separate reporting flow has been defined for SBT type vendor data. Goal was to remove mainframe components for data validation and reporting and to allow near real-time flow from Point Of Sale to end Data warehouse.

Roles and Responsibilities

Involved in Business Analysis and Requirements Gathering.

Studied and understood the warehouses, sources, functionally analyzed the application domains and worked with System owners to resolve source data issues and to refine transformation rules.

Created different source definitions to extract data from flat files and relational databases.

Worked on Joiner, Aggregator, Update Strategy, Rank, Router, Lookup, Stored Procedure, Sequence Generator, Filter, Sorter, and Source Qualifier transformations.
