Senior Software Engineer - Volt Delta Resources Morrisville, NC 2010 to 2016

As a C# and SQL developer of the billing software on mission-critical databases handling output of enterprise hosted IVR solutions, responsible for ensuring minimal down time and extreme billing accuracy on a system that fed directly to customer invoicing. Added functionality and maintained the existing billing software while at the same time successfully creating the next generation billing software.

Architected the company’s next generation enterprise billing SQL software on a Windows 2008 R2/SQL Server 2008 R2 server. Led team to layout overall design, implemented a large subsection of the functionality (design, SQL code, & test) while at the same time ensuring the team stayed focused on final goal.

Worked closely with product management to ensure that new requirements were properly converted into business rules, implemented the resulting rules in C# or SQL as required, and then followed up with testing, installation changes, and documentation.

Troubleshot problems with support personnel on complex database systems with numerous data feeds and outputs. Provided both software and data remediation as required.

Software Engineer - Volt Delta Resources RTP, NC 2009 to 2010

As a C++ developer on a complex server-based system, used when providing directory assistance service, worked on initiatives to improve the quality of a mature Windows service based product offering. Customer satisfaction was increased as long-standing issues were resolved satisfactorily.

Improved the speed of problem resolution by creating a new Windows service that passed along call statistics to a database that was part of an end-to-end call debugging system.

Enhanced a component of the system to perform device housecleaning of non-communicating subtending telephone operator workstations.

Senior Software Engineer - Volt Delta Resources RTP, NC 2004 to 2009

As a C++ developer on the Windows XP Pro based VDR telephone operator workstation, enhanced it with new functionality in order to make it fully capable of displacing the Nortel Networks telephone operator workstation. The result of this enhancement effort was so well-received by the existing customer base that the company goal of consolidating the product offerings was met with nearly 100% replacement.

Added Nortel VoIP technology into Freedom in order to support Nortel’s TOPS VoIP solution.

Integrated toll & assistance as well as operator reference database software, which was C language based, from Nortel telephone operator workstation. This complex effort involved stitching together two vastly different telephone workstation architectures.

Senior Software Engineer – Nortel Networks RTP, NC 1996 to 2004

As a C language developer on the Windows based Nortel telephone operator workstation, worked to keep the industry-dominant operator position ahead of the competition. Successfully made numerous enhancements in the toll & assistance, directory assistance, and enhanced web service offerings.

Took on initiative to fully automate the software build process. While immediately realizing a significant cost savings over the previous manual process, also improved developer productivity as build creation frequency increased and could be done on demand as required.

Acted as interface to 3rd party system integrator, provided guidance and handled issues arising during system production. Additionally, evaluated potential new PC platforms and various networking cards to ensure product compatibility.

Maintained the installation and configuration software arising from over 10 developers’ changes. Took the initiative to radically simplify the entire deployment process. The result was a drastic reduction in support calls as complicated configuration was seamlessly automated.

Created the procedures and software changes required whenever the workstation operating system had to be upgraded. The migration procedures smoothly upgraded tens of thousands of operator positions while at the same time minimizing down time.

Added the ability to support credit cards as a new form of payment for customer service.
