Contract Purchasing position with AMG Military Assembly Plant, producer of military vehicles including HMMWVs (Hummer®).

Koontz-Wagner Custom Controls, South Bend, IN 2014 to April 2016

Four-site, $100 million, division of Global Power Equipment Group (NYSE: GLPW) that designs, manufactures and integrates power control room solutions for energy, oil and gas, and electrical industries, supplying customers worldwide.

Procurement Director (position eliminated during corporate reduction in force)

Oversee Procurement function for four sites (five plants) in Indiana, Tennessee, Idaho and Texas, with nine Purchasing personnel and annual spend of approx. $55 million.

Negotiated five-year supply agreement, consolidating paint supply to one vendor for all KW plants. The contract involved an up-front payment to KW of $500,000 “pre-bate” and resulted in ongoing annual savings of $100,000.

Negotiated $259,000 savings for project involving relocation (rigging and transport) of 62 completed, customer-owned control buildings to off-site indoor storage.

Developed and introduced monthly tracking of material cost performance against budget (Actual vs. Estimate) for all projects closed during the period. Performance to materials budget in 2015 was 7% favorable, $3.0 million.

Initiated and published monthly scorecard showing Buyers’ cost savings projects at four plants. Team savings and avoidances for 2015 totaled $580K with carry-over into 2016 of $202K.

O’Tech Compounds Corp, Rolling Prairie, IN 2013 to 2014

$40M firm that engineers and manufactures custom thermoplastic compounds for extrusion (wire/cable) and molding (footwear) industries.

Purchasing Manager (position eliminated for budget-cutting purposes)

Responsible for leading Purchasing function and raw material inventory management.

Introduced tracking of inventory turns, improving from 7.9 to 9.9 in six months by implementing practices and controls that reduced O’Tech’s raw material inventory $291K (13%).

Negotiated expansion of annual rebate program with a key supplier resulting in an annual savings of $31K.

Participated in implementation of new integrated MRP software system.

Remis America, LLC, Elkhart, IN 2010 to 2013

Firm that assembles and installs glass doors and covers for mid-temperature and freezer cases used in supermarkets and retail stores. Start-up joint venture, $6 million, between Remis GmbH and Dehco, Inc.

Purchasing Manager

Supervise Purchasing function and coordinate supply from German parent/partner.

Achieved net 25% BOM cost reduction for components used in primary door model introduced in US, changing supply from German parent to domestic suppliers, approx. savings of $5,000 per store ($1 million annually), reducing dependence on supply from Germany from 42% of spend in 2010 to less than 10% in 2013.

Negotiated claim settlements of $185,000 with LED lighting supplier due to field quality failures and $115,000 with international freight carrier ($165,000 total charge) for tardy deliveries that caused delayed installations.

Designed and implemented ISO-9000 compliant procedures for Purchasing. Earned listing by NSF and UL for several product lines by defining agency requirements and coordinating submittal of samples and documentation.

Hess Industries, Inc., Niles, MI 2006 to 2010

$40M designer and builder of metalforming, welding, assembly equipment sold worldwide to automotive, HVAC and white goods customers.

Managed purchasing of all direct material ($12M), including steel, principally from overseas, and custom-fabricated components, to support manufacturing and assembly operations.

Achieved continuous supply of material during steel shortage of 2004 – 2005 by negotiating increased allocation from two incumbent mills and leading a team which qualified three new off-shore mills.

Negotiated raw material cost savings totaling $3.0 million from 1996 through 2005 by leveraging currency exchange rates, decreased feedstock costs and global competition.

Improved leadtime from five months to just-in-time by negotiating agreement with largest steel supplier to establish a U.S. warehouse in 1998 with no increase in price.

Participated on business software project team, including analysis of need, qualification of candidates, vendor selection, and successful system implementation.
