Process Engineer Intern

Assisted the plant manager in developing spreadsheets to optimize the head settings for a continuous operation to ensure product quality and oil losses were at a minimum.

Helped develop SOPs for different pieces of machinery to lessen the amount of downtime between changeovers for various bottle types.

Conducted a time study and provided recommendations on changes that were needed to ensure a batch process in the creation of a dressing could be a near continuous process in the bottling and packaging sections of the plant.

Provided a daily report to the plant manager regarding soybean oil losses on the three process streams used to create final products.

Contacted vendors and received quotes for upgrading level sensors in four bulk storage oil tanks and the installation of a programmable logic controller in order to gain understanding of process in real time.

United States Army, Final Rank - CAPTAIN 2004-2009

Military Transition Team (MTT) Headquarters Support Company Advisor, Fort Riley, KS and Iraq 2008-2009

Responsible for advising the management, personnel and headquarters support company of an Iraqi army brigade with over 2500 soldiers. Assisted attached soldiers with mail, the GI Bill, awards and promotions.

Deployed for 12 months in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Conducted over 250 mounted combat patrols through Southeastern Baghdad province totaling more than 8000 miles and 2500 hours in hostile territory without incident.

Served as convoy commander for 50+ mounted combat patrols throughout Southern Baghdad province in hostile and treacherous terrain.

Assisted the Iraqi Army in the smooth transfer of more than 5700 Sons of Iraq, and identified those that were not qualified for the US led payment to the Government of Iraq.

Aided the Iraqi Army in several major operations to rid pockets of alleged enemy controlled territory with no incidents.

Assisted in the retention of Iraqi Army soldiers who would have gone AWOL had they not been paid. Accomplished by emphasizing the importance of paying soldiers in a timely manner, and promoted an understanding of the need for Iraqi soldiers to automate personnel data and ensure less corruption where it was prevalent and common.

Battalion Chemical Officer & Unit Status Report Officer, South Korea and Fort Bliss, TX 2006-2008

Responsible for the chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) readiness for a forward deployed US Army Battalion of over 750 Soldiers within striking range of North Korean chemical and biological armaments.

Provided the monthly unit status report, summarizing training, personnel/equipment needs and each unit’s readiness percentile for reporting to the battalion commander.

Responsible for coordinating and synchronizing with the South Korean defense forces in joint decontamination procedures, preparation of reports, and the resupply of critical life saving equipment in the event of CBRN attack.

Developed training methods for 70-200 Soldiers, which stressed the importance of individual CBRN required defense, resulting in battalion receiving a 100% CBRN Readiness Rating during a key training exercise on the Korean Peninsula.

Led and trained over 500 Soldiers in live tear gas training with a 100% safety record.

Inventoried, maintained and deployed CBRN equipment valued at more than $500,000.

Key contributor to the battalion’s success re-stationing from South Korea to Fort Bliss, TX resulting in the movement of over $100,000 with no monetary losses due to lost or damaged CBRN equipment.
