Production DBA -- Boeing Migration Factory group (Consultant) 8/2011 to 2/2012

• We moved 42 databases from all over the United States to three service centers in Seattle, Phoenix, and St. Louis in RAC/Linux and Service Guard/HPUX environments.

• Worked with Golden Gate and Data Guard to build mission critical 24/7 databases and dramatically reduce down time while maintaining current data replication from the legacy database to the new target database.

• Authored a Migration Factory Staffing Plan for the project MGR.

• Project saved Boeing 4 $million during the first 9 months with less than 150 databases moved.

• Lead Oracle Development DBA and database designer of the first application of its kind to allow Toyota and Lexus automobiles to communicate with the WWW via a smart phone. Entune is a Real Time processing application that enables occupants of the car to do things like make restaurant reservation, reserve parking spots at a garage before arrival. Get real time stock quotes etc.

Data Governance/Database design.

• Designed four databases to support Real Time interaction between the Car and the WWW, historic tracking of user activity, applications content management, and an analytical database for providing Business Intelligence.

• Led a new team of six DBA’s in a business environment recently converted from vertical silos to a matrix organization.

• Wrote an Oracle database reporting tool that collected Oracle database information every day and performed trend analysis and change analysis on current data compared to past data with over 50 reports.

• Wrote an Oracle database backup application that Versions Hot and Cold backups, automatically deleted old backups in accordance with a retention policy, and recorded backup information in an Oracle database.

• Performed data migration (ETL) to a replacement application/database using Erwin, SQL and PL/SQL, Data Pump, and Materialized Views. This resulted in a suit of 24/7 applications that had zero unplanned downtime over 12 months.

Team Lead Enterprise Database Design

-- White House special project "Re-inventing government"

• Responsible for the overall design of database in 6 divisions of the USAID. Audited database design for 6 development teams to ensure information could move from one database into any other database as needed without data changes.

• Served as point of escalation and review/approval for key design issue decisions with regards to enterprise data and information

• Helped pioneer Enterprise Master Data Management, Data Quality Assurance, and Service Oriented Architecture before those terms were industry standards

• Re-Designed the Operational Data Store and Data Cleansing databases for Concert's Financial Data Warehouse.

• Lead Oracle DBA team Development/Production (Team of 3 DBA’s) for Concert's Financial Data Warehouse, Operational Data Store, and Data Mart databases.

• This database system won the “Best Practices Award for 1997” from the Data Warehousing Institute. Saved over 50 million dollars in lost revenue through more accurate customer billing.

Dev Team Lead -- Perot Systems

• Team Lead (myself, one DBA, one Data Modeler, and one business analyst) created a physical model, built, and was the production DBA for a database that received over 30 million Call Detail Records loaded into it every week. The application and database provided efficient and secure access to over 20 billion Call Detail Records for AT&T, Bell South, and Sprint customer billing on the east coast of the United States.

Development/Production DBA -- United States Postal Service (USPS)

• Used Erwin to create and convert Logical designs into a Physical Database design to satisfy production mail-forwarding requirements for use in 250 mail processing facilities. Senior Database Administrator for 15 Dev, QA, and Test databases. Senior production DBA for databases in Cincinnati OH, Frederick MD, Reston VA, and Sacramento CA. This “Real Time” application was estimated to exceed four $million dollars in savings per year.
