Director of Human Resources, April 2014 – December 2014 (Resigned when management buy-out failed)

Reported to the President of Patrick Engineering Inc. and managed a staff of four employees (Talent Manager, two HRBPs, and an Executive Assistant). Led the change management efforts and served on the acquisition team for the executive management team endeavoring to complete a management buy-out (MBO) of the company, which ultimately was unsuccessful, leading to my departure from the company. The privately held company had 200+ employees in 11 states across the U.S.

CHEVRON ENERGY SOLUTIONS (NYSE: CVX) Overland Park, KS and Oak Brook, IL Human Resources Business Partner, July 2003 – March 2014 (Business unit was divested)

Reported directly to the President of Chevron Energy Solutions with a dotted line relationship to the HR General Manager of Technology & Service, and managed a staff of five employees (OC Manager, OC Analyst, HRBP, HR Assistant, and a HR Development Program participant). Was a member of the Chevron Leadership Team, Management Committee, Operational Excellence Leadership Team, and Global Technology & Service HR Leadership Team. Led the Recognition & Award Committee. Served as a partner to leaders covering strategic and tactical HR for sales, marketing, and engineering, personnel. The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron USA, is an energy engineering firm. The company had 350+ employees in 21 U.S. states.

Led HR initiatives, such as electronic performance appraisals, multi-source feedback, leadership development, and Revenue Storm® certification for the new “Go to Market Strategy” within budget and on schedule.

Developed and led the subsidiary’s HR function covering benefits, compensation, performance management, employee relations, training, recruiting, legal compliance, talent management, and policy deployment for sales, engineering, project management, construction management and support personnel. Viron, a subsidiary of Consumers Energy, was an energy engineering firm specializing in performance contracting, which provided energy services such as delivering energy efficiency, conservation, and power system solutions to public institutions and businesses. The company had 250+ employees in 22 states across the U.S.

Implemented retention strategies, resulting in 100% retention of critical staff during the divestiture of Viron assets to Chevron Energy Solutions. Personal efforts were cited for the retention rate and positive employee morale during continuous change.

THE SHERWIN-WILLIAMS COMPANY, A.W Steudel Technical Center (NYSE: SHW) Chicago, IL Human Resources Manager, July 1998 - July 2000 (Relocated to Kansas City, MO)

Reported to the Vice President of Technical with a dotted line to the Director of Human Resources and managed four direct reports (HR Coordinator, Accounting Manager, Accounting Specialist, and Administrative Assistant), while managing the Human Resources and Accounting function with an annual budget of $1.5 MM for 200 employees in four states. Led the overall administration of human resources, including tactical and strategic duties involving benefits, compensation, training, recruiting, and employee/labor relations. The company is the research and development center for the Chemical Coatings Division and the Industrial & Marine Coatings Division of The Sherwin-Williams Company.

TEXTRON AUTOMOTIVE COMPANY (NYSE: TXT) Rantoul, IL and Columbia, MO Employee Relations Supervisor, October 1994 - July 1998 (Relocated to Chicago, IL)

Reported to the Director of Human Resources and managed six employees (HR Generalist, Recruiter, HR Coordinator, Payroll Supervisor and two Payroll Assistants), to provide broad scale HR and payroll services, including but not limited to benefits, employee/labor relations, compensation, policy counsel, performance management, recruitment, selection, training, and payroll processing. Textron Automotive is a just-in-time manufacturing company, with unionized and non-unionized plants, that manufactures and supplies components and assembly systems for the automobile industry. There were 1000 unionized employees and 100 non-union employees at Rantoul. The Columbia operations had 500 non-unionized employees.

Fostered positive employee relations and utilized proactive union avoidance strategies to thwart a union organizing campaign at the Columbia Operations.

Assisted in the receipt and maintenance of QS-9000 (a quality standard for automotive industry) certification at the Columbia Operations and the Athens, Tennessee Operations.
