Mechanical Designer

Work with assigned teammates/group to work, under Project Mgr and Functioning Mgr, on projects following the full design path process.

Start with prototype parts and assemblies with less expensive materials to meet certain criteria in the design process. As well as testing and documentation per each criteria needed to be met.

Create detailed Drawings for manufactured parts. Specifying material, finish, identification, GD&T, O-Ring grooves and all other machined features. Specify any weld call outs per chosen standard. Along with proper naming conventions and all other required specifications per Design Engineer and vendors.

Create Assembly drawing that includes cartouches in regard to Reference BOM in proper orientation and tolerance stack up. As well as test assembly drawings.

Work with Vendors and Manufactures to ensure timely delivery and to answer any questions, should there be any.

Write test plans to be documented and submitted to test facility, in order to meet design process criteria.

Use proper safety programs and guidelines along with proper PPE.

Use oral and written communication skills to work well with team and other important members of the project.

Keep all sketches and notes organized and available for reference at anytime.

Design and create all 3D models and 2D drawings Using AutoDesk Autocad and Creo/ProE.

Submit all work into Database to coincide with Drawing BOM & Database BOM.

12-2008 to 6-2010 Alamo Iron Works San Antonio, TX

Structural Steel Fabricator

Fabricate and weld structural steel parts from engineer’s drawings.

Layout, cut, and clean parts for fit-up.

Tack parts and weld out complete per spec., with .045 & .035 MIG weld process.

Very familiar and knowledgeable of B.O.M., weld symbols, material (nominal and dimensional) sizes, bolt hole sizes.

Program and operate Accupress press brake.

Work in coordination with engineers (structural, m.e.p., civil), landscape designers, interior furniture designers, as well as project mgr and lead architect.

Draw interior elevations; including handicap accessibility; exterior elevations; site plans; floor plans; wall sections; section details; reflected ceiling plans; window schedules; and door schedules using AutoCad 2008 and 2009. Go out into field to take measurements and sketches for any remodels existing and new drawings.
