DPS Group: Directly contracted Independent QA/QC E & I Inspector.

Fixed term rotational position on site at Shetland Gas plant UK. Construction and commissioning phase of a new build large scale Gas processing plant owned and operated by TOTAL.

Independent client representation on site providing technical guidance to subcontractors, performing detailed ATEX inspection’s and sign off all newly installed E & I equipment to correctly meet both legal requirements and client specific specification.

Checking of all installed equipment against technical specifications and drawings. Mark up of As Built drawings with any construction changes. Enforcement of remedial actions if needed against subcontractors. Provide advice on and thereafter oversee and sign off remedial works.

Witness and sign off of fixed wire testing of newly installed cables throughout the site

Ensure that the clients punch list of outstanding items was correctly and timely closed out by subcontractors.

Supervise subcontractors in pre commissioning checks of systems and witness correct commissioning procedures and final sign off of equipment for client prior to plant start up.

Liaise with subcontractors and other client representatives to ensure all works were undertaken in line with all permit to works, risk assessment and Electrical isolation requirements.

Update of clients record keeping systems daily to ensure status of all equipment on site was correctly recorded.

over the ten months of the fixed term contract I personally achieved over nine hundred detailed inspection’s on the following types of E &I equipment on site

Heat trace system: cables, splitter boxes and end stops. HVAC System: Dampers

PAGA system: sounders and alarms, telephones, gas detectors, smoke detectors.

Rig Control Products Ltd UK / PTE Singapore: Electrical Supervisor Projects.

Workshop based supervision of control system construction and pre install testing including FAT and Client acceptance testing.

Supervision onsite of projects worldwide on operational offshore assets and during shipyard work overs. Managing a team of Electrical Technicians installing and commissioning Instrumentation and control systems. Operating out of either the Aberdeen or Singapore office and traveling as needed to supervise works onsite.

Pre planning of and effective mobilisation / Demob of correct personnel, equipment, tools and materials onsite to enable project to be carried out to clients, usually tight operational requirements / timescales, often offshore and or in an international setting.

Company representative either onboard or onsite to liaise with client and obtain and or produce all safety paperwork requirements for the project such as permit to work, risk assessments and isolation authority.

Attend daily / weekly meeting with clients to ensure project schedules / safety standards met and progress reports produced daily to update client and company on project progress.

Install of power and auxiliary control cables from switch room supply to rigs port crane including new transformer and isolation panel.

Changing out faulty encoders on crane and associated profinet cabling.

Install of new BOP control panels including fibre optic upgrades.

Inspection of and remedial works to earth bonding on all electrical motors onboard and recording of all motors onboard to update rig’s equipment register.

Rig: Energy Enchancer Location: Offshore Danish sector.

Supervising team of four Technicians and one engineer to successfully Install and commission new HMI units for RMS upgrade and software upgrades to RMS system.

Install of one new control panel and internal modifications to existing system to allow tie ins.

By correctly planning works and detailed liaison with client project completed in seventy two hrs onboard to accommodate clients drilling schedule. Achieved by splitting team into two shifts and working 24hrs per day.

Rig: Prospector Five Location: Offshore North Sea

Lead Technician of two onboard. Install of distribution boards and three phase power and control cabling for new Rotor Mill control room, engine room and augers and skip units. Interconnections of power and control cabling between skid units and control room. Start up and commissioning of rotor mill.

Project completed on time.

Rig: Amirantie Location: long term shipyard project Malta.

Supervising team of four Technicians and one welder. Install and commissioning of new Anti Collision system onto drill floor and associated control panels.

Multiple cable runs / marshalling boxes and sensor mountings.

Achieved fixed price Project completion one week ahead of scheduled timescale with considerable cost savings.

Rig: Sedco 714 Location: long term shipyard project Nigg UK.

Supervising rotating team of eight Technicians two pipe fitters and two welders. Install of new HPHT system, Gate valve control system and Choke and kill manifold.

Multiple cable runs including fibre optics and associated connections.

Install of new subsea cables.

Correctly managed a multi discipline team to complete project within a tight shipyard visit.

Rig: Wil Phoenix Location: Offshore West of Shetland.

Lead Technician onboard. Install and commissioning of RMS upgrades / Addition of fine scale gauges to drill floor displays and additional HMI units to RMS system.

Project completed on time to accommodate clients drilling program.

Supervising team of five Technicians and one commissioning engineer.

Successfully achieved the install and system commissioning of complete deck monitoring system including cable runs of over three hundred metres in a single forty eight hour quayside visit by the operational supply vessel to minimise costs to client.

Supervising team of ten Technicians and one Welder. Install and commissioning of new Anti collision system onto drill floor and Install of multiple cabling runs for third party contractors.

Install of third party equipment onto drilling package.

Project brought to clients satisfaction one week ahead of projected timescales to fit into shortened shipyard visit.

Rig: Ensco 85 location: Offshore Indonesia.

Supervising team of three Technicians install of new BOP monitoring System.

Multiple cable runs and install of control panels and associated sensors.

Project completed on time.

Rig: KanTan IV location: long term shipyard project Singapore and offshore New Zealand.

Supervising team of three Technicians. Install of multiple fibre optic cabling runs and install of new Bop Control System during shipyard visit in Singapore.

Due to client dictated timescales during the shipyard visit my team completed the install in Singapore then I flew part of my team out meet the rig during her tow Offshore from New Plymouth in New Zealand waters and we successfully commissioned the system prior to the rig coming on station and the clients drilling program starting .

Rig: Sedco 712 location: long term shipyard project Invergordon UK.

Supervising a team of three Technicians and one Welder. Install and commissioning of new Anti collision system onto drill floor. Install of new battery back up and emergency shutdown systems.

Due to successfully completing the above works the client requested that I stay onboard to supervise a new team of their own Subcontractors working on the Fabrication of a new Dog house and the associated electrical upgrades.

Hochtief major international projects: Electrical Foreman. Glendoe hydro electric power station UK.

Supervision of twelve Technicians installing and commissioning equipment into underground Power Station and associated tunnels during construction phase.

Ensure all works carried out within safety framework, responsible for all safety paperwork.

Install of large scale cabling runs and containment into approx forty five km of underground tunnels.
