Used Trane Trace 700 for HVAC load estimates. Frozen food container refrigeration system redesign for severe cold weather service with Carrier tech rep. • Diagnosed cooling shortfall of data center CRAC unit: replaced unit chill water piping (from parallel to counter flow) and control valve to restore cooling.

• Inspected kitchen exhaust ducting; documented no cleaning access, wrong duct metal. Roof top fan was replaced with simplified 1st floor fan/duct system.

Englewood, CO and McMurdo Station, Antarctica Senior project manager Plan review of wastewater plant mechanical/piping systems and recommended spare parts for same. Recruited facilities engineers, MEP tradesmen for contract work.

• Rehired original design & project engineer on contract to repair station power plant heat recovery system faults and re-commission system, train personnel on operation.

Antarctic Support Associates '94-2000 NSF Crary Lab, McMurdo Station, Antarctica & Englewood, CO Facilities engineer Operation & maintenance, supervision of craftsmen on Antarctic science lab physical plant: walk-in environmental & freezer rooms, incubators, -40F freezer cascade refrigeration systems, fume hoods & room pressure control systems, two sea water aquariums and pumps with sea water inlet. Redundant oil fired LP steam boiler for 100% OA steam pre-heat coils, AHU steam coils, humidifiers, water heaters, shell and tube heat exchangers for secondary glycol heating to unit heaters, VAV reheat coils.

Programed HVAC DDC, archived operational parameters for facility trends. Maintenance of critical power system with diesel gen set, ATS. All facility work was under client configuration management. Assisted on fire protection system certification, station facility maintenance shop, and other duties as assigned.

• Revised pre-action valve assembly with check valve to stop air leaks, nescience alarms.

• Assisted on Y2K compliance of lab, station equipment, transition was uneventful.

• Coordinated annual boiler, pressure vessel, crane and burner inspection for sites.

• Designed time delay power-on relays to stop power surge after outage for appliances with refrigeration compressors to prevent damaging short cycling.

• Award for reducing annual fuel oil use by 1/3 by lower boiler pressure, steam trap repair, sealing air infiltration leaks and revised oil burner operation from modulating to Low-High fire reducing complexity, maintenance cost.
