RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Product Design Engineer Feb 2013-Aug 2014

Perfect Road Equipment, India (Manufacturer of Road Construction Machinery)

• Worked on a project with a team of 10 Engineers to design wet mix plant of 20-ton capacity.

• Contributed in the project from conception through manufacturing by researching, planning, and designing components.

• Designed bucket elevator by performing design calculations, reviewing other designs, while considering client requirements.

• Generated and restructured design of bucket and four bin feeder frames according to product design using Pro/Engineer.

• Reviewed technical documents including assembly drawings, part drawings, BOM’s and schematics.

• Collaborated with manufacturing experts to optimize part designs and production processes.

• Communicated and interfaced with 10 customers and 3 suppliers. Negotiated 3 different deals of the total value of $10000.

• Oversaw operators of the lathe, welding, drilling, grinding and fabricators to confirm design meets the requirement.

• Accomplished desired goals and tasks by working in 4 cross functional teams to deliver orders before deadlines.

• Delivered on-site technical support to 3 customers and resolved on site conflicts ensuring decent customer service.

• Trained 2 incoming interns about the company structure, manufacturing operations and design process. Mechatronics Engineer Intern Jan 2012-July 2012

Neptune Industries Ltd, India (Fly Ash Industry Machines Provider)

• Spearheaded a team of five interns to automate an existing pan mixer of 300 Kg capacity using Allen Bradley PLC.

• Designed and implemented a mechanism to open pan mixer door using double acting hydraulic cylinder.

• Determined type of hydraulic cylinder, stroke length, piston diameter, control valves and hose size required.

• Investigated 4 different causes of hydraulic cylinder failure in a brick press machine and proposed a recommendation to reduce side loading on one of the cylinder by incorporating bearings on guideways. RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Research: Prediction of failure pressure for steam generator tubes when two cracks coalesce. Aug 2015-May 2016

• Modeled tube using shell elements and carried out Non-linear elastic-plastic analysis of the tube using ABAQUS.

• Followed syntax rules and modified input file using ABAQUS commands (keywords) to model cracks as line spring elements.

• Resolved warnings and errors to run the analysis correctly. Assessed different mesh density trials for mesh convergence.

• Determined failure pressure by comparing J-integral, stress intensity factor and stresses in ligament with material property Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of a plate with center hole to find out deformation and stresses using ABAQUS Summer 2015

• Determined stress intensity factor, a region of maximum stress and deformation by applying pressure on both sides.

• Investigated how number of nodes, mesh quality and mesh elements used in meshing affected the results. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of a chair using Creo Simulate Jan 2015

• Modeled a chair in Creo and performed static analysis in Creo Simulate to find stress distribution and deformation.

• Experimented with Steel, Ashwood, Beechwood as chair material for analysis.

• Differentiated stress and deformation results and proposed the optimum material and dimensions. Page 2 of 2

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of flow in a concentric cylinder Summer 2015

• Analyzed the velocity and temperature distribution of turbulent flow in a concentric cylinder using ANSYS FLUENT.

• Verified results for its accuracy by calculating heat transfer, nusselt number and friction factor. Flow in a rectangular duct to find out velocity and pressure loss using ANSYS Fluent Summer 2015

• Considered laminar flow of fluid in a rectangular duct, exported velocity and pressure data to Excel. Plotted graph of X and Y components of velocity at centerline of the duct. Noted whirling effect at the turns of duct. Calculated pressure loss by plotting graphs of inlet and outlet pressure.

Vibration of vehicle moving on a rough road surface Fall 2014

• Conducted a parametric study and plotted graphs of response by changing mass, damping and stiffness of a vehicle to identify how these parameters affect the response of Quarter Car Model using MATLAB. Dynamic analysis of door mechanism Fall 2014
