My role as a radiation therapist was to accurately deliver the prescribed course of radiation therapy as directed by the physician's written prescription and approved treatment plan. I was responsible to keep patient safety my number one concern as well. I also was responsible to document the patient's daily treatments and verification films, reporting unusual findings to the Chief Therapist. Under the direction of the physician, i was involved in accurately creating immobilization devices, delivering contrast media, tattooing patients and documenting their setups so they are reproducible on the treatment machine. I was also responsible for clearly explaining the simulation and treatment procedure to the patients and family members .I also have learned how to coordinate scheduling between medical and radiation oncology to ensure convenience and keep the patients benefit ahead of staffing issues. I was responsible to perform QA on patient plans prior to the initiation of first treatment and weekly thereafter reporting unusual findings to the Chief Therapist, as well as daily machine QA. I was responsible to keep an efficient schedule, practice ALARA, involve my self in chart rounds and staff meetings as well.
