A $10 million nonprofit children and family services organization.

Chief Financial Officer

Recruited by CEO to direct operational and cultural turnaround of finance organization. Reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors with responsibility for the management of all financial affairs. This includes financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash management and directing a staff of three in all finance functions. Serve on and support audit, finance and investment committees of the Board of Directors.

Implemented a new and improved collection and invoicing process which has been instrumental in increasing cash and short term investments from $6.4 million to $10.4 million.

Developed a standardized Finance Committee Report presenting monthly key financial data and narrative highlights to the Finance Committee resulting in increased transparency and more informed business decision-making.

Introduced a monthly cash basis set of books and an annual cash basis budget, which provides for a more accurate representation of cash flow.

Developed a Short Term Cash Reserves Investment Policy. Then in conjunction with the Investment Committee selected a Private Asset Manager to oversee the organization’s cash reserves. This resulted in interest & dividend income increasing to $180k annually up from $25k annually.

Supervise & Coordinate External Audit and Form 990 Preparation & Filing.

Implement continuous financial audit and control systems to monitor performance of COA, it’s flow of funds, the adherence to budget, the expenditures, the income, the productivity and other budgetary items.

Lead the initiative to bring on board a new retirement plan provider which provided more viable investment options, increased communication and employee education and significantly improved operational control.
