Dear Sir/Madam,

I recently received a call from Scott Petruska, a colleague that works for SVB, suggesting that I apply for the position of Head of FX Trading. I thought it might be worthwhile to provide this letter along with my CV to address the specific requirements of the position.

With respect to the job description:

I have been involved in the foreign exchange markets for over three decades and have recently been appointed to the ACI Education Committee (“Board of Education). ACI is the premier international foreign exchange industry organization (see http://aciamerica.us/). I have held positions as trader, manager and other relevant positions for banks and brokerage firms throughout my career. I established a foreign exchange trading desk for M&T bank, as well as a foreign exchange sales desk where I managed six proprietary traders and four salespersons. I established a capital market sales unit which distributed, executed and risk-managed FX, money market, NDF and other risk-management derivatives to a primarily regional clientele but also included some fortune 500 companies. I established the entire trading room and the bank’s trading and corporate risk-management environment and later consulted for banks, hedge funds and execution platforms in areas of execution, latency, credit risk, liquidity and performance. I designed an execution platform which was later purchased by a Fortune 100 company and have consulted on such issues as FX risk management, interest rate risk-management, and professional behavior with respect to executions, compliance and other professional issues. I was also a member of the bank’s ALCO committee.

In support of the sales efforts, I conducted a weekly conference call to both internal stakeholders and, where appropriate, corporate clients, covering relevant financial issues concerning the FX and the interest rate environment. I was also a regular guest on such financial networks as Financial News Network, CNBC, Bloomberg and Reuters television. I co-authored a financial newsletter which appeared in many major publications including, but not limited to, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, Newsweek International, and others.

I have taught seminars for compliance, audit, sales, trading and other personnel from over 100 financial institutions (see http://trcidirect.com/clients.html ) as well as the OCC, the NY Federal Reserve, and others both for Treasury Resources Consulting and Investigating, Inc. (TRCI) and as the chairman of the education committee for the US chapter of ACI, a non-profit organization comprising over 14,000 foreign exchange professionals. I have also produced a 12 module, 4 hour video seminar entitled “Understanding Financial Markets” which can be found at financialumbrellas.wix.com/home. I have testified as a foreign exchange expert in a number of legal cases concerning market practices, valid executions and other issues requiring professional expertise.

I would consider relocating to Santa Clara since my adult children are both living in California. Please find my CV (below) along with a list of engagements that I have conducted for clients. I look forward to discussing my qualifications at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

Tim Scala
