I have obtained a priceless amount of knowledge about many different technical and functional processes concerning Ellucian’s/Banner Enterprise Application Systems while being employed as a Team Leader, Senior Programmer/Analyst at Mt. San Antonio College. My specialization with the Ellucain/Banner suite of products is Ellucain/Banner Student, Ellucian/Banner Human Resources, and Ellucian/Banner Payroll. I have worked extensively with the Office of Admissions and Records helping them to implement and utilize the Ellucain/Banner Student Information System. I have specifically worked with the Office of the Registrar at Mt. San Antonio College to implement the degree audit product DegreeWorks which utilizes the SCRIBE programming language. Implemented and supported the Admissions and Records department in the usage of the SOATERM, SOACURR, SCADETL Ellucian/Banner Application forms. Responsible for identifying and removing multiple pidms (which represented duplicate records for students) from the Ellucain/Banner Oracle tables.

Prior to implementing Ellucain/Banner Enterprise Application Systems responsibilities included customizing and implementing a community college application. The application was a transfer of a community college turnkey application system from a Florida community college. The system objective was to fix and customize the applications to suit the policies and business practices of the college. Responsibilities included the financial area which determined the school fees charged to students, refunds, obligations, financial aid as well as cashiering, etc.

Other areas of responsibilities included security, interfaces to other applications within the school as well as to external agencies such as the Chancellor’s offices. Designed, developed and implemented Parking Control subsystem for the school. Tasks included meeting with users to discuss specifications, issues, policies and procedures; discussions and resolution specifications and issues with other project teams.

Other tasks included providing demonstrations of the different functions or subsystems as they were completed or modified, for user’s review, approval, and signoff; provided user training and support. Created project definitions, analysis and designing, coding, unit and system testing, debugging, and pre and post implementation. All these were in addition to providing technical guidance, support and leadership to the junior team members.

Responsible for utilizing the entire System Development Life Cycle to design, code, and implement a Branch Purchase Order System, using Adabas V 6.1.3 / Natural V 2.2.8, with on-line development using Natural Construct V 3.3.2 and the Data Dictionary Predict V 3.3.3.

Lead Analysis and Design meetings with internal Branch Managers representing over 100 company Branches nationwide.

Project Lead, Computer Task Group, Aug 1995 – Dec 1996

Lead Analysis and Design efforts to take the current Legacy System Adabas Files for a major oil manufacturer and convert these files to Client / Server Oracle Tables

Designed and wrote conversion programs to extract data from the current legacy system Adabas files and populate these fields on the appropriate Oracle Tables utilising Primary and Secondary Key Structures.

Responsible for the reengineering and transformations of data from the new Oracle Database system, back to the External Legacy Systems that needed the data.

Responsible for the design, coding, testing, and implementation of a Vendor Virtual Inventory Project for an Electronics Distribution company.

Extensive User interfaces with the Clients from this Electronics Distribution Company. Reformatting of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) data transmissions into a standard format, populating this reformatted data on two holding tank Adabas files, and then extracting, matching, and loading this data onto several company permanent files utilising the Run Control batch process.

Conducted computer system analysis, design, coding, testing and implementation of on-line and batch USA-GLAS systems.

Responsible for the entire Natural / Adabas interface to a Lawson Accounts Payable (Client Server) turnkey package.

Coded, tested, and implemented a new batch software called MVS Expedite / Base which is used to communicate (transmit / receive) information into mailboxes in the Advantis network.

Completed numerous outstanding production system modifications and enhancements from the company’s project backlog request list.

Programmer / Analyst, Waste Disposal and Services, Feb 1990 – Dec 1993

Work on the analysis, design, coding, and testing of the Billing Purchase Order Number Process for the National Account Data System. Responsible for designing and coding programs to validate and update the Purchase Order Number for service tickets, on the Marketing Interface and Major Account files.

Downloaded these mainframe files down to the AS/400 midrange system through transmission lines. Updates were real time and also through batch processing.

Worked on a project team analyzing, designing, coding and testing programs to transfer services, divisions, and regions of Customers to other processing areas within the company. Involved heavy usage of VSAM file linkage to Adabas files, and transferring data across Adabas environments. Utilized Natural / Adabas, COBOL – I and COBOL – II in a MVS/ESA environment.

Responsible for production support of the logical and physical deletions of the Customer database files. Millions of Customer information records were contained on 80 Adabas files. Purge criteria was based on complex and file interrelated program designs. Performed statistical reporting of Housekeeping System to upper Management and other company personnel on a monthly basis.
